Underwood spent Saturday and Sunday with relatives in Phoenix City, Ala. Mr. J.G. Walker is much improved and is able to be out again. Messrs. Luther Underwood and C.C. Grissom visited in Muscogee Saturday. Mr. W.J. Walker, of Gopher Ridge, spent Tuesday night with his father, Mr. J.G. Walker. Misses McCrary and McBrayer spent Saturday in Buena Vista. Messrs. Wall, Taylor and McMichael called on their best girls here Sunday. Miss McCrary returned to her home in Geneva, Monday after a two months' stay in the city. Mr. Scott, of Seminole, spent Sunday with relatives here. Messrs. J.B and F.S. Olive Miss Dora Bell Bickley returned to her home near Howard Sunday, after spending two weeks with her sister here. Mr. J.W. Brown is quite sick at this writing. Jewell, the little infant of Mr. and Mrs. S.W. Anthony, who has been quite sick, is reported worse this morning (Monday.) Ed Chalkley and little sons, S.E. and A.G., attended meeting at Mt. Pisgah Saturday and visited at the home of S.R. Lawhorn. Arthur Hand spent Sunday at Blueville. Chandler Chalkley and sister, Miss Eva, visited at the home of Mr. Wesley Phillips at Spring Hill Sunday. Cape Colquitt, of Geneva, passed through our community Tuesday. Rev. Hill preached at Mt. Olive Sunday. Toby The Marion County Patriot, No. 18 Friday, May 14, 1909 Page Three Japanese Mr. Willie Reese Parker and sister, Miss Mae, attended the singing at Brown Springs Sunday afternoon. Mr. H.J. Parker visited his brother, Mr. Rufus Hendrick, at Fort Valley, who is quite sick, last Sunday. Miss Alyma Parker has been quite sick the past few days but is better at this writing. Messrs. Plen and Cliff Johnson, of Ellaville, spent Saturday night and Sunday with relatives here. Everybody remember the singing at Brown Springs next Sunday afternoon. Miss Alyma Parker returned home last Sunday after spending last week with Mrs. M.J. Hale. Mr. T.J. Harris is suffering from a mashed lip, caused from an accident at his saw mill Thursday. Mrs. M.J. Hale spent last week in Columbus with her brother, W.F. Urquhart. Miss Eugenia Parker returned home Sunday after spending a pleasant week with Mrs. Mary Walker, near Short's Mill. Mr. and Mrs. Tack Parker attended the preaching at Brantley Saturday. Mr. Nat Halley and sister, Miss Mazie, of Tazewell, spent Sunday with relatives here. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Harbuck, of Sand Hill, spent Saturday and Sunday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Enoch Brown. Mrs. Willis Wiggins spent a few days last week with her daughter, Mrs. J.W. Steed, in Buena Vista. Mr. and Mrs. A.K. Pickard, of Buena Vista, were in the city Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. G.C. Persons spent Sunday with her mother, Mrs. M.E. King at Box Springs. Miss Lou H. Corley, of Columbus, spent Sunday and Monday with her sister, Mrs. T.L. Kilcrease. Miss Jeffie Persons returned to her home in Macon Thursday. Rev. and Mrs. Hugh F. Oliver were in our town Sunday evening. Mr. John Hale spent Sunday in Ellaville with his brother Harvey. Mr. and Mrs. J.S. Rogers were visiting in Buena Vista Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Jordan, of Putnam, spent Sunday with her mother, Mrs. John Hanner. Mr. Emmette Cooke, of Buena Vista, spent Sunday with Mr. Laz Wiggins. Mr. Olin Daniel, of Buena Vista, was here Monday. Mr. Enoch Brown spent Sunday with his son, Jack, at Draneville. Mrs. G.C. Persons and Miss Ruby Lee Persons spent last Wednesday evening with relatives in Buena Vista. Mr. John Collumn, of Americus, spent Saturday and Sunday with home folks. Plow Boy The Marion County Patriot, No. 18 Friday, May 14, 1909 Page Three Rabbit Mrs. James Hayes spent last Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. S. Montgomery. Mr. Arthur Sullivan and little son, Oscar, were bitten by a mad dog Sunday, the 2nd inst., and are now at home near here under the treatment of the state board of health. Mrs. Dollie Wyatt is very sick at this writing. Quite a large crowd went fishing Saturday evening. Mr. W.O. Montgomery made a business trip to Rabbit Saturday. Mr. Bob Hamilton was transacting business in Buena Vista Saturday. Mr. Emmett Elliott was in Mauk Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. T.P. Guthrie spent Monday in Mauk. Rayper and Misses Effie and Rena Weaver were in Juniper Wednesday of last week. Mr. Ed Spivey and several others from Talbotton were fishing here last week. Messrs. G.W. Cook, J.O. Smith, A.L. Guy, C.M. Clements, Put Lowe, Will Jackson, Mr. and Mrs. Lem Moore, all from Buena Vista, were fishing here last week. Mr. Wilburn Belk, who has been guarding convicts for his uncle, Captain Posey, is at home on the sick list this week. Mr. J.A. Posey is on the sick list this week. Mr. Dave Posey, of Columbus, was here Sunday. Mr. Coachman Chalkley, of Columbus, was with relatives here Saturday and Sunday. Rev. W. P. Allison filled his regular appointment at Box Springs Saturday and preached at Juniper Sunday night. Mr. and Mrs. Ode Harris, Messrs. Tom Harris and Pou Belk and Misses Helen Harris and Elmer Belk spent Saturday in Columbus. Mr. and Mrs. Albert McDaniel were shopping in Buena Vista Friday. Mr. R.H. Reynolds made a business trip to Columbus last week. Miss Nettie Poole and Mr. John Huffman spent Saturday and Sunday with Mrs. Willie Poole. Messrs. Johnsons, of Ellaville, were in our village Sunday. Mr. Horace Poole made a business trip to Box Springs Thursday. Mrs. Emma McDaniel was on the sick list this week. The singing here Sunday was a success. Mrs. Howard Duncan is on the sick list this week. Rev. J.W. Elder will fill his regular appointment here the third Sunday. Miss Rose Bud Cook has returned home after a very pleasant visit with friends at Ellebeck. Mr. Bob Tompson is suffering with a broken arm. Messrs. Poole gave an ice cream supper at their home on Howard Avenue Saturday night. A large crowd was present. The people of Brown Springs have organized a singing club to meet the first and third Sundays. Mr. Walter Tyner, of Girard, Ala, is visiting friends here. Mr. Lon Weed and family were the guests of Frank Johnson and family Sunday. Misses Dora and Willie M. Johnson and Julia Mae Weed attended Sunday school at Brown Springs Sunday afternoon. Will Hairbuck and Liza Johnson attended Sunday school at Brown Springs Sunday. Joel and Clarence Culpepper visited friends on Pine Knot Saturday and Sunday. Misses Mattie Hairbuck, Liza Johnson and Will Hairbuck made a trip to Box Springs Saturday afternoon. Mr. F.M. Johnson and daughter, Dora, and Mrs. Lillie Johnson were in Buena Vista yesterday. Mrs. M.J. Hale made a business trip to Columbus recently. Mr. and Mrs. Andrew McElmurry, Mr. David McMickel and family, Mrs. Freddie McElmurry, Mrs. Mary Montgomery and Miss Lois McElmurry all spent Friday at the home of Mr. Chas. McMickel, celebrating his birthday. Mr. Edgar Melton made his usual trip here Saturday and Sunday. Mr. W.D. McMickle and wife visited their son, Robert and family, at Putnam this week. Mr. and Mrs. J.H. Spear spent Sunday very pleasantly at the home of Mr. and Mrs. N.B. Bryan. Plunket
