Hogg's Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Lessie Pool, of Corinth, visited relatives near Tazewell Saturday and Sunday. Little Misses Mary and Estella Maddus, of Buena Vista, spent a few days with their cousin, Sarah Ethel Phelps, this week. Misses Lillian Bullock, Ethel Duke and Mattie Benson, of Buena Vista, spent Sunday with friends and relatives in our town. Mr. William Monfort, of Blakely, Ga. visited Mr. and Mrs. John Cook Sunday. Mr. J.D. Corley, of Columbus, is visiting his sister, Mrs. T.L. Kilcrease. Mr. R.T. Persons, of Mauk, visited homefolks Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Aldine Pickard, of Buena Vista, visited Hon. and Mrs. J.S. Rogers Friday afternoon. Rev. W.P. Allison, our most efficient Tax Receiver, was here on official business Monday. Judge Wiggins made a business trip to Buena Vista Monday. Messrs. J.P. Hogg and J. Gordon Lowe, of Buena Vista, were in our town Monday on business. Mr. and Mrs. Will Eubarks (Eubanks?), from near Murrys in Schley, spent Saturday and Sunday with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.J. King. Mr. Turner Williams, of Buena Vista, visited relatives in our town Sunday and Monday. Capt. J.M. Persons and son, George, attended the picnic and fish fry at the old camp-ground in Schley County last Saturday. They report a jolly time. Mr. and Mrs. Daniel James Stephens, of Friendship, visited their parents, Judge and Mrs. John Hanner Saturday and Sunday. Messrs. Emmett Cook and Eugene Phelps, of Buena Vista, spent Sunday with homefolks. Mr. George B. Brown was on the sick list last week. Little Master Joseph M. Rogers was quite sick Saturday night. Miss Belle Cook, chief operator at the Central Office at Buena Vista, visited homefolks here Saturday night and Sunday. Mrs. E.M. Bullock, Misses Lucretia and Katie Lou Bullock, of Buena Vista, and Mrs. George William Posey, of Juniper, visited Mrs. J.E. Phelps last Wednesday. Mr. H.O. Cook happened to a very painful accident Monday evening while returning to his work, he fell down with his mule and a sack of peas. It seems that the mule and peas were masters of the situation and believing that turn and turn about is fair play, decided that it was their turn to ride and forthwith proceeded to exercise their right with the result to Mr. Cook of a badly mashed foot, bruised leg and a bad fright. He used Harvey Hale's secret system of telephonology and had Mrs. Cook on the scene in a few minutes with turpentine and bandages. Stevens is busy shipping his peaches from Doyle and Putnam. Judge and Mrs. John Hanner were called to Summer last Wednesday by telegram, on account of the serious illness of their daughter, Mrs. Samuel Terry. Mr. Hanner returned Saturday reporting that she was not improving any. Mr. Ike Hart, of Ellaville, visited his sister, Mrs. Harvey Hale, and his girl here Saturday and Sunday. Messrs. Aaron and Sam Ranew, of Americus, visited their aunt, Mrs. T.L. Kilcrease Saturday and Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Amos Jordan and children of Friendship, spent a few days with Mr. and Mrs. John Cook last week. Mr. J.D. Corley returned to his home in Columbus last Friday after spending a week very pleasantly with relatives in Doyle. Mr. and Mrs. Ruby Harbuck, of Sand Hill, spent Saturday and Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Brown. Mr. and Mrs. H.O. Cook spent Saturday with Mrs. Cook's sister, Mrs. Irvin W. Jordan near Draneville. Mr. Crocket Jordan, of Buena Vista, spent Sunday with his sisters, Mesdames Highnote and Daniel, in North Doyle. Several of the young people here enjoyed themselves Saturday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Cook. Judge and Mrs. Willis Wiggins spent last Friday in Buena Vista with Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Steed. Mr. G.C. Persons spent several days this week in Carrollton, attending the closing exercises of the 4th District Agricultural School. Miss Rubie Lee Persons is expecting Misses Willie Clair and Annie Clyde Pickard, of Tazewell, Saturday to spend a while with her. Rev. C.M. Meeks, of Buena Vista, and Rev. Allen of Columbus, were in Doyle a short while Wednesday p.m. Little Arra Minda Fouche, of near Tazewell, visited Tomie Lee Kilcrease Thursday. Ebenezer people had a fine time at the Hart old mill in Schley County last Saturday. Bountiful dinner of nice fried fish and all other good things to eat. We were kindly remembered by the presentation of a nice box by some of our lady friends and patrons. John Sorrell says they need not be trying to kill me by feeding, it has been tried and failed. Mrs. John Hanner returned from South Georgia Monday where she has been for the past ten days nursing her sick daughter, Mrs. Samuel Terry, whom she reports is rapidly recovering. Major G.C. Persons made a business trip to Ellaville Sunday. Think he is still looking after those bonds. Alva W. Phelps returned home from Carrollton last Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. W.P. Persons, of Americus, spent Saturday with their brother, Capt. J.M. Persons and family. Mr. and Mrs. Persons were on their way home from Birmingham, where they had been in attendance at the Confederate Reunion. Judge Wiggins is spending this week in Buena Vista, helping his daughter, Mrs. J.W. Steed keep shop, while Mr. Steed is on the war path after the finny tribe. Mr. G.C. Persons had the misfortune to lose a mule last Monday morning. Rev. Hugh Oliver, of Buena Vista, had a good sized congregation at Corinth Sunday p.m. Hon. and Mrs. J.S. Rogers and little son, Master Joseph M., spent several days with relatives in Americus last week. Cards are out announcing the marriage of Miss Mary Lou Drane, of Buena Vista, to Mr. E.R. Jordan, of Ellaville on June 30th. Misses Reba Rogers and Anna Hair, of Buena Vista, spent a few days with Miss Rubie Lee Persons last week. Mrs. Phillips, of Macon, came Saturday to spend several weeks with Mrs. J.S. Rogers. Mr. M.B. McCrary and family, Mr. and Mrs. Aldine Pickard, Mrs. Cornelia Lowe, Messrs. Jim and Merritt Lowe, of Buena Vista, spent Sunday with Hon. and Mrs. J.S. Rogers. Mr. Edwin Rogers, of Buena Vista, was in Doyle Friday p.m. Messrs. Laz Wiggins and George Persons went down on a lark to Ellaville Saturday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Hale spent Saturday and Sunday with relatives in Ellaville. Eugene Phelps spent a while with homefolks Sunday. Mrs. S.E. Collins, of Ellaville, spent last week with relatives in Putnam. Miss Annie Collum is visiting her brother, Dr. Ein Collum, at Herod this week. The Farmers Union held a revival meeting at Corinth Saturday evening. Miss Enis Brasington, of Corinth, is spending some time with the Misses Highnote. Miss Ruby Lee Persons has been entertaining a number of friends at a house party this week. Mrs. T.L. Kilcrease and daughters, Misses Myrtle and Tomie Lee, are spending this week with relatives in Columbus. Mrs. Ein Collum, of Herod, is spending some time with the family of Prof. J.M. Collum near Putnam. Misses Mattie, Lizzie and Hattie Hart and Mr. Grady Sorrels attended an ice cream supper at Tom Storey's last Saturday night. Mr. John Swain, of Dawson,spent a few days this week with friends and relatives in Doyle. Mesdames Hart and Herring, of Ellaville, visited Mrs. Harvey Hale last Saturday. Miss Martha Baldwin, of Ellaville, came up last Thursday and enjoyed a three days' visit with friends in Doyle and Buena Vista. Dr. and Mrs. Jordan and babe passed through Doyle one day last week in their handsome auto, enroute to their home in Ellaville. Misses Willie Clair and Annie Clyde Pickard, of Tazewell, and Misses Etta Lowe and Christene (Christine?) Hair, of Buena Vista, are the guests of Misses Ruby, Lee, Estelle and Lucile Persons this week. Mr. Isaac Hart, of Ellaville, spent a few days with relatives and his girl in Doyle last week. Some of the farmers in east Draneville are putting up poles for a telephone line. The proposed new line will tap the old line in the neighborhood of Friendship, and run north to the road leading from Draneville to Ellaville. Messrs. S.H. Kisor, G.W. Kisor, J.R. Smith and others are subscribers on the line. Mr. William Lowe, of Buena Vista, spent Monday with friends in Doyle. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Jordan, of Friendship, visited Mr. and Mrs. John Hanner Sunday.
