Mrs. Simeon Lawhorn went to Columbus Sunday. Misses Julia and Blanche Youngblood were shopping in Buena Vista Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Chalkley and their youngest children spent last Saturday and Sunday at the home of Messrs. George and Jabez McCorkle. Miss Dora Bell Bickley, of Howard is visiting her sister, Mrs. Stella Anthony. J.E. Chalkley and S.W. Anthony made a business trip to Geneva Saturday p.m. S. Lawhorn and wife went to Buena Vista Monday. S.R. Lawhorn and family, of Spring Hill visited Mr. and Mrs. Simeon Lawhorn last Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Lancaster attended preaching at Mt. Olive Saturday. Chandler, S.E. and A.G. Chalkley, Luther Forrest and Herman Anthony went to Parker's Mill Saturday. Perry Anthony and family, Ft. Perry, spent Sunday at the home of Walker Anthony. Grover Bryan and Evan Wall, two of Spring Hill's best looking young men, visited at the home of J.W. Brown Sunday. Miss Hattie Hand went to Columbus Sunday. Joe Brown and wife spent Saturday night and Sunday with their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Downs, of Geneva. Mr. John Parker and Miss Abbie Hendrick, of Japanese, visited Misses Julia and Blanche Youngblood Saturday. Toby The Marion County Patriot, No. 17 Friday, May 7, 1909 Page Three Juniper Mr. J.A. Posey made a business trip to Columbus last Saturday. Mr. John Moore visited relatives at Mt. Olive last Sunday. Mr. John Jones, of Geneva, spent last Friday at the home of Mr. G.W. Posey. Mrs. W.A. Walker returned home from Columbus last Friday where she had been for several days with her mother, Mrs. W.H. Chalkley. We are glad to note that Mrs. Chalkley is up again. Messrs. J.T. Harris, J.M. Taylor and S.M. Phillips attended court in Buena Vista last week. The Woodmen gave an ice cream supper at the hall last Saturday night, which was largely attended from all parts of the county. Mr. Charley Chalkley, of Columbus, visited relatives here Sunday. Mr. Ed Stokes was in our village last Thursday. Messrs. Hand and Brown, two saw mill men of Mt. Olive, were attending to business here last Saturday. Mr. Floyd Lawhorn was fishing on the pond last Wednesday. McCrary and children and Mr. and Mrs. George McCrary, of Buena Vista, spent Sunday very pleasantly with Mr. and Mrs. J.S. Rogers. Mr. J.M. Persons made a business trip to Columbus Monday returning home Tuesday morning. Miss Addie Cooke, of Buena Vista, spent a few days with Miss Minta Kilcrease last week. Mr. and Mrs. H.O. Cooke spent Saturday and Sunday at Friendship the guest of his sister, Mrs. Ame Jordan. Mr. J.S. Rogers made a business trip to Mauk Monday. Mr. Cliff Hanner left Monday for Sumner to visit his sister, Mrs. Calvin Webb. Miss Atta Belle Gresham spent a few days in Americus last week, the guest of her sister, Mrs. David Wicker. Messrs. George Persons, Edwin Rogers and Alva Dickinson spent Sunday in Doyle. Mr. Howell Eason, of Ellaville, visited a maiden fair near our town Sunday. Mrs. M.B. McCrary, of Buena Vista, is spending a few days with her sister, Mrs. J.S. Rogers, who is on the sick list. Mr. Laz Wiggins spent Saturday night and Sunday near Putnam with Mr. Gordon Jordan. Little Miss Tommyle Kilcrease has been very sick with typhoid fever. Messrs. Dennis and Ollie Smith were in our town Sunday afternoon. Mr. Willis Wiggins made a business trip to Buena Vista Monday morning. Mr. Eugene Phelps left Wednesday morning for Denver, Colorado. Plow Boy The Marion County Patriot, No. 17 Friday, May 7, 1909 Page Three Japanese Mrs. H.J. Parker has the finest garden in our section. Mr. J.T. McClung is reported quite ill. Mr. John Parker has purchased a new buggy. Hurry up John, Athens school will soon be out. Miss Alma Walker is spending this week with her cousin, Miss Amanda Urquhart, over at Walker's Mill. Miss Eva Harris, of Juniper, is spending this week with Miss Mae Parker. Messrs. Noah Butt and Kitty Rigsby of Buena Vista were shaking hands with friends at Japanese Sunday. We are glad to note that Mrs. J.M. Taylor is improving. Japanese Coon The Marion County Patriot, No. 17 Friday, May 7, 1909 Page Three Zellobee Mrs. Lucy Jordan and three little daughters, of Doyle, visited her sister, Mrs. R.L. Story last week. Mrs. J.B. McBrayer spent last Wednesday in Buena Vista. We are glad to say that Mr. R.L. Story, who was very sick last week, is rapidly improving. Misses Dobbs, McCrary and McBrayer visited Mrs. F.R. Harrison at Curran last Friday evening. Quite a crowd attended church at Union Sunday. Miss Elise McBrayer was numbered with the sick last week. Mr. J.B. and F.H. Dobbs were in Buena Vista one day this week. Messrs. Walls spent Sunday afternoon with the Misses Dobbs. Misses Elise McBrayer and Floyd Story took a stroll to Curran Monday. Little Miss Jamie Dobbs was very sick last week. Messrs. Taylor and McMichael were in our city Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. H.C. Goettings passed through our city Monday enroute to Glenalta. Williams gave a quilting last Wednesday which was enjoyed by all present, but the best of all was a bountiful dinner spread at the noon hour. Mr. Chas. McMickle and family visited his brother, Robert, at Putnam Saturday and Sunday. Mr. Loyd Cartwright visited friends at Brantley and Japanese Saturday and Sunday. Miss Lora McMickle and Mr. Edgar Melton spent Sunday very pleasantly with the Misses Bloodsworth at Charing. Dr. Lamor, of Atlanta, was here on business Monday. Mr. David McMickle and wife, Mr. J. Hurst Spear and family spent Sunday very pleasantly at Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Chapman's. Mrs. Ada Perry, Mrs. Minnie Perry and Mrs. Mary Garrette all spent Tuesday on the pond fishing. They report fine luck. Mr. and Mrs. William Perry are all smiles over the arrival of a fine girl at their home last Friday. Plunkette
