Mr. Holcombe Smith has returned home from Columbus, where he has been attending school. Miss Willie Smith, who has been living in Texas with her aunt for the past few years, returned to her old home here last week accompanied by her uncle, Mr. Stephen Hair. Mr. and Mrs. Grey Noell and children and Miss Eunice Belk spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Jim Thaggard. Mr. and Mrs. Emmett Johnson, of near Glenalta, spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. John Martin. Mrs. F.B. Belk and children visited her mother, Mrs. C.A. Moore Sunday. The Marion County Patriot, No. 20 Friday, May 28, 1909 Page Three Doyle Mr. J. Ed Mathis, of Americus, was in Doyle a short while Monday afternoon on business. Mr. R.R. Hogg, of near Tazewell went up to Waverly Saturday and spent several days. Mrs. Hogg was with friends in Doyle during his absence. Judge and Mrs. John Hanner went down to Friendship Saturday. Mrs. Hanner remained a few days with her daughter, Mrs. D.J. Stevens, who is sick. Mr. and Mrs. James Persons, Jr., of Schley, visited Mr. and Mrs. G.C. Persons at Doyle Sunday. Mr. G.B. Brown was on the sick list several days recently. Mrs. Council Cheeks and little son, Foy, of Plains, are spending several days with her mother, Mrs. John Hanner. Mrs. M.B. McCrary and Mrs. Aldine Pickard, of Buena Vista, spent Friday evening with Mrs. J.S. Rogers. Mr. Tom Ed Gresham returned home from Americus Monday, where he was attending the A & M College. Mr. Charlie Persons and sister, Rubie Lee, made a business trip to Buena Vista last week. Miss Addye Cooke, of Buena Vista, spent a few days here with friends last week. Mr. Carl Giles, of Flem, spent a few days with relatives here last week. Miss Ruby Chapell will return to her home this week, after spending several days with her sister, Mrs. Knowlton. Mrs. Charles Hogg came up Tuesday from Americus to attend the marriage of her brother, Robert to Miss Lil(name cut off) Bloodsworth, of Flem. Mr. Willis Wiggins made a business trip to Buena Vista Saturday afternoon. Miss Lilah and Inez Daniel and Minta Kilcrease and Robert Daniel attended the concert at Tazewell Friday night. Messrs. Sidney Rushin and Noah Butt of Buena Vista, were here on business last week. Dr. W.R. Hair, of Buena Vista, came down Friday and did some dental work for Mrs. J.S. Rogers. Mr. Gurley returned to his home in South Georgia Tuesday after spending some time with his brother here. Mr. Horace Cook, of Box Springs, visited his best girl here Sunday. Mr. M.S. Walker spent last Sunday afternoon with the family of Mr. Buck Parker. Mr. Abraham Golden visited his best girl near here Sunday. Messrs. John and Grover Parker, Lutha McClung, Horace Cook, Fletcher Harris, Misses Aylma and Mae Parker were the guests of Misses Dora and Fannie Mae Johnson last Sunday. Messrs. Nathan Carden and Frank Noell were in our village Sunday p.m. The Marion County Patriot, No. 20 Friday, May 28, 1909 Page Three Brantley Miss Amy Hardage visited Miss Ossie Mae Goodroe, of near Solomon's Temple, the latter part of last week. Miss Myrtice Nutt was the guest of Miss Susie Noell Sunday. A large crowd attended Sunday school here Sunday afternoon. There will be singing at Brantley church the third Sunday evening in June. Miss Maybird Burt is expected home in a few days from Gainesville, where she has been attending school. The little son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Goodroe died last Wednesday night and was laid to rest in Providence cemetery Thursday evening. Mr. Walter Burt is expected home from Emory College this week. Pet The Marion County Patriot, No. 20 Friday, May 28, 1909 Page Three Juniper Messrs. J.A. and G.W. Posey made a business trip to Columbus this week. Messrs. Virgil, Jim and Bob Steed, of Talbot County, were here fishing this week. Messrs. Douglas and Bell, of Talbotton were among the fishermen here this week. Mrs. J.T. Harris, who has been quite sick for the past two weeks, is improving very fast. Mrs. E.J. Wendt, of Columbus, is visiting the family of Rev. Geo. T. Chandler. Mrs. Mittie McKee, of Waverly Hall, who has been visiting Rev. T. Chandler and family here, left this week to visit friends in Talbotton. Dr. Black and Mr. Strivey, of Talbotton, were here fishing this week. Mrs. J.A. Posey went up to Columbus to see her mother, who has been quite sick. Mrs. Wm. Chalkley, of Columbus, is visiting her daughter, Mrs. J.A. Posey. Misses Katilu Bullock and Myra Posey and Master Leon Posey went up to Columbus Saturday. Col. Frank Sibley, of Detroit, Michigan is here shaking hands with old friends. Col. Sibley left here four years ago. Juniper Rose The Marion County Patriot, No. 20 Friday, May 28, 1909 Page Three Ft. Perry Mr. B. Powell made a business trip to Mauk Monday. Lightning struck the home of Mr. Bob Gorman Monday evening, wrecking one room and the piazza and some furniture. Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Powell, of Arlington, visited his parents here last week. The ice cream supper given by Mr. B. Powell last Tuesday night was enjoyed by all present. Mr. Simeon Lawhorn passed through our community last Friday on his way to Mauk. Mrs. Rachel Coulter is visiting her grandson, A.M. Rogers, at Elabeck, this week. Messrs. L. Battle and Neal Stokes, of Box Springs, were here Sunday. Mr. R.H. Reynolds and Ida Belle Reynolds attended preaching at Mt. Zion Sunday. Mr. Horace Poole spent Saturday at Parade Springs. Possum
