    2. The Marion County Patriot, No. 27 Friday, July 16, 1909 Page Three Fort Perry Mrs. Andrew Jones went to Mauk Saturday. Mr. Tom Wall made a business trip to Mauk Saturday. Miss Eda (Ada?) Highsmith and Mr. Horace Highsmith visited their brother, David, at Junction City a few days last week. Mrs. Rebecca Powell was quite sick last week but is better now. Messrs. Johnnie and Edgar Jones and John Miller passed through our community Sunday enroute to see their best girls. Mr. B. Powell went to Geneva Saturday. Miss Addie Quaration visited her sister, Mrs. Ida Blackston last week. Misses France and Phlista (Philista?) Fowler visited friends and relatives here recently. Black Eyes The Marion County Patriot, No. 27 Friday, July 16, 1909 Page Three Juniper We had several fine rains this week. The farmers are getting their mowers ready for the hay crop, which is fine. Our school opened last Monday, with 14 pupils present. There are about 40 children around Juniper who should be in school. Mr. Lon Simmons and family, of Columbus, is spending the week with Mr. and Mrs. J.A. Posey. Mr. Coach Chalkley, of Columbus, visited relatives here last Saturday and Sunday. Mr. George Jones, of Cusseta, was in Juniper Friday. Mr. David Bullock, of Buena Vista, spent Saturday with relatives here. Messrs. W.A. Walker, P.A. Belk, Johnnie Brown and Joseph Benson made a business trip to Columbus last Saturday. Messrs. Willie Harbuck and Arthur Weed, of Pineknot, were shaking hands with friends here last Saturday. Rev. W.P. Allison filled his appointment here last Saturday and Sunday. Mrs. P.A. Belk, who has been very low, is slowly improving. Mr. Ralph Cannon, of Chattahoochee made a business call here last Friday night. Messrs. Mack Moore and W.A. Walker attended preaching at Box Springs last Saturday. Mr. W.C. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Gilbert visited their parents near Howard Saturday and Sunday. Mrs. Bettie Montgomery returned home Sunday afternoon after a pleasant visit with friends and relatives near Reynolds. Mrs. Evelin Lucas, of near Reynolds, is visiting at the home of Mr. S.R. Montgomery. Master Bailey Smith is on the sick list this week. Mr. Walter McGinty attended the singing at Mt. Nebo Sunday. Mr. Leonard McGinty attended preaching at Horeb Sunday. Miss Ruth Hanson spent Saturday and Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Cooke near Paschal. Nobody's Darling The Marion County Patriot, No. 27 Friday, July 16, 1909 Page Three Doyle Gnats and sore eyes. Crops are booming. Mrs. S.J. Dillard, near Draneville, is on the sick list. J.W. Woodall, of Columbus, is visiting the family of Judge Hanner. Miss Elye Kisor, of near Draneville, went up near Geneva Sunday to take charge of a music class. Mr. R.R. Hogg spent a few days in Americus last week with friends. Miss Mary Lou Parker, of Buena Vista, was the charming guest of Miss Rubie Lee Persons a few days last week. Mrs. Dan Stevens and children, of Friendship, are spending this week with her mother, Mrs. John Hanner. Mrs. G.C. Persons came home from Box Springs, after spending several days with her mother. Mr. Emmette (Emmett?) Josey, of Buena Vista, visited Mr. Robert Daniel Sunday. Mr. Joe Persons returned to Moultrie Sunday, after spending a week very pleasantly with home folks here. Misses Annie and Mildred Collum entertained a few of their friends Saturday evening. Several games were played and delicious refreshments served. Mr. Sawyer, of Americus, visited at the home of Mr. John Collum Wednesday. Mrs. Rob Stevens and children spent Saturday and Sunday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Fulford, near Buena Vista. Mr. J.S. Rogers made a business trip to Columbus Wednesday. Miss Grace King returned to her home at Box Springs Wednesday. Messrs. Steven and Jordan are very busy shipping peaches this week. Misses Georgia, Ethel and Annie Hair, Rubie Reba and Edwin Rogers, of Buena Vista, were in our town awhile Friday afternoon. Mr. W.P. Wallis, of Americus, was with relatives here Tuesday morning. Mrs. Nathaniel B. Holliday, of Birmingham, Ala., is visiting her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. G.W. Kisor and other relatives near Draneville. Gus Urquhart, Amos Harris and Emmet Jackson spent Sunday with Misses Bessie, Odessa and Alice Harris. Master Tom Storey, of Blueville, visited relatives here Sunday. Several young men attended preaching at Mt. Pisgah Sunday. Misses Mattie, Beatrice and Clara Walker, of Gopher Ridge, visited Miss Blanche Weed Monday. Robin Hood
