    3. Researching the McCorkle family of Marion Co., GA. Robert McCorkle is in the 1860 census of Tazwell with his wife Matilda and 7 children, Martha, John, James, Robert, Sarah, Rebecca and William. Matilda is in the 1870 census of Tazwell as the head of the house (Robert has died?) and 7 children, James, Robert, Sarah, Rebecca, William, George and Jober. I can find none of this family in the 1880 census in GA. Any help appreciated. Bonnie Findley

    3. Bonnie, Look at this Schley county pension application. I don't know for sure but this may be your John McCorkle, the son. Also, there is a W.R. McCorkle who was a witness in support of this widow's claim. Could that have been Robert or William? If this is the right McCorkle family, then you might want to look in Terrell County after 1893 and that is where the pension was later transferred to. It would seem logical that a widow in advanced years would probably move in with other family. Hope this is your McCorkles. http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/ga/schley/military/civilwar/pensions/mt164ucob17thg.txt Harris Hill ----- Original Message ----- From: "Bonnie Findley" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, February 06, 2004 11:47 PM Subject: [GAMARION] Robert and Matilda McCorkle > Researching the McCorkle family of Marion Co., GA. > Robert McCorkle is in the 1860 census of Tazwell with > his wife Matilda and 7 children, Martha, John, James, > Robert, Sarah, Rebecca and William. > Matilda is in the 1870 census of Tazwell as the head > of the house (Robert has died?) and 7 children, James, > Robert, Sarah, Rebecca, William, George and Jober. > I can find none of this family in the 1880 census in > GA. > Any help appreciated. > Bonnie Findley > > > ============================== > Gain access to over two billion names including the new Immigration > Collection with an Ancestry.com free trial.
