I think Isaac is the son of William and brother of Edmond. I believe his wife was (as listed in Abraham Page's 1845 will) Selah (Page) Stringfield. Isaac and "Celia's" children were William, Abraham B, and Mary A. There are two questionables: Hardy and Joseph who were listed in the 1880 census as sons, but may have been children o f Mary A. Would appreciate any information. There is also a connection to Talbot County and Taylor County.

Miss Hogg, a young lady about 18 years old was getting chalk from a deep gully near her home, when a perfect avalanche of dirt caved in crushing her beneath its weight and causing almost instant death. Only meagre deatails of the horrible affair can be obtained, as the place is some distance from the railroad. Marion-Bibb County GaArchives Biographies.....Clements, Clement 1764 - November 11, 1851 ************************************************ Copyright. All rights reserved. http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/copyright.htm http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/ga/gafiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Debbie McArthur debbiemcarthur@hotmail.com April 24, 2005, 10:29 pm Author: William Frederick Kyzer A Bit of Biographical History by W.F.Kyzer I have heard my mother say that Clem Clements, her paternal grandfather, was seventeen years old, and the son of a widowed mother at the time of the American Revolutionary War. He was a soldier (Calvary I think) under the command of Gen. Morgan, and wrote a song, it was said relative to the Battle of the Cow Pens which ran something like this: The spies returning late at night Brought news that Tarleton was almost in sight; But Morgan 'rose early before 'twas day And placed his army in battle array etc. His home was in South Carolina or was it North Carolina? where the countryside was overrun with tories, that is Americans whose sympathy was with England, and on one occasion he tethered his horse out in the swamp and stole in home to see his mother. While there a gang of Tories, neighbors, some of whom he had played with in Childhood, came in on him. Don't know what their parley was about but he was forced to run-there being about seven or eight against him-and, although being a swift runner himself, he knew there was one in the "mob" who could and who did equal him in speed. Just as he placed his hands upon the top rail of a fence in order to leap over, the tory, his boyhood friend, with his sword hacked off three of his fingers. At that they let him go and turned back to abuse his mother. It is said that they beat her till her blood ran down into her shoes. A day of vengeance came. He gathered together a party of friends (or was it soldiers?) and surprised and captured them at a place called Moores Bridge where they had met for the purpose of taking a bath in the river-and hanged them. Thus closes so far as I know the history of my mother's paternal Grandfather, the same being my great grandfather who must have been born at least a century before I was. the date of his birth is unkown but must have been about 17?? Next comes his son Gabriel, my mothers father the same being my grandfather whom I never saw, or heard much about save that he was a great fiddler. His family consisted of a wife whose name was Charlotte, and six children, four boys and two girls. Their names being Josiah, Josephus, Jackson, Jacob and Louana who married Jasper Simmons and Elisabeth, my mother, who married James Kyzer, my father. David Kyzer, my Grandfather, was born in the year 1800 and died in 1856, ten years before I was born, therefore I never saw him. His wife, my Grandmother-Redama was her name-was born about the year 1804 and lived to be ninety six years old. Of their family of ten children who lived to rear up families of their own there is not one so far as I am aware living now. Two, Levi and Paul, were killed in the Civil War. Emmanuel was the oldest, then came William, Levi, Mary, Marguerite, James, Paul, Silas, Samuel and Edward. Marguerite married Daniel Black and Mary married Samuel Clark. They both reared large families. So taking them-the Clarks and Blacks and the Kyzers-as a whole, there should be and no doubt is an army of Cousins scattered over the United States of North America and probably some in foreign countries. Additional Comments: Excerpt from journal of William Frederick Kyzer-written prob early 1900s. His father died 1896 and he died 1929. Clement Clements was born ca 1764 Bedford Co., VA died 11 Nov 1851 Marion Co., GA. I would love to know how you found out his spouses name. I have sent off for pension application and some other documents about Clement Clements but would love any information you could give me about him. I have a copy(don't have notes in front of me right now..) of some pension paper of Clem. Clements. I know that he died 11 Nov 1851 in Marion Co., GA, but haven't been able to find him on the 1850 Census. And haven't seen anything listing his spouses name until I came across your message. I have a copy of a short "bio" that my gggrandpa, Will. Kyzer, wrote in his journal that you might would like a copy of, if you don't already have it. It lists his mother's parents, Gabriel and Charlotte(no maiden name) and her siblings...and relates the story passed down from his mother, Elizabeth Clements Kyzer, about some things that happened to Clem. Clements during the Rev. War. I am descended from Clement Clements thru his son, Gabriel, Gabriel's daughter, Elizabeth, and her son William Frederick Kyzer. Would love to share and compare information.
If there is anyone who would like a lookup of their ancestor, I have a complete index for the state of Georgia of Confederate Pension Filing applications. Not the applications themselves, just an index of those who filed for pension in Georgia and in what county. I'd be pleased to do lookups for individuals. Harris

Turner, Smith Turner and J.D. Kidd for the murder of Green Wells, a citizen of that county. The awful tradgedy occurred several weeks ago, and was shrouded in the deepest mystery. It was only after the most diligent and untiring efforts that a clew (clue) to the assassins was found. They are now in jail in Buena Vista. They styled themselves the "United Brotherhood." J.D. Kidd, a Free Will Baptist preacher organized the band. He is well known in this county having lived near Ellaville for a number of years. Mr. Wells was a peaceful law abiding citizen, and the people of Marion county are determined that his murderers shall be brought to justice. A special from Buena Vista gives the following account of the burning of Mr. I.P. Blue's residence, and the sad death of the devoted mother. Mr. Blue was away from home. The fire broke out about 3 o'clock. When Mrs. Blue awoke the house was ablaze. Leaving two children in her own room she ran to another room and called her two eldest boys. They hurried out and with their mother escaped to the ground. Then Mrs. Blue remembered that she had not awakened the children in her own room. Frantic at the thought that these were in danger of burning, she made desparate efforts to return to them through the dining room. In the meantime the two boys whom she had awakened gained the room in which the other children were sleeping by breaking open a window and saved them both. The mother still wild and frantic and not knowing that the children were all safe, continued to fight her way through the flames and blinding smoke. She fell overcome with the heat and stifled by the smoke and perished in the flames. When the citizens reached the scene the four children were shivering in their night clothes and crying bitterly for their mother. The charred remains of the unfortunate woman were taken from the ashes yesterday and were prepared for burial. Additional Comments: (Transcriber's Note: I believe this to be Melissa Snelgrove Blue, wife of Isaac Peoples Blue. Mr. Blue was church clerk for Ramah Primitive Baptist Church and in Rena Cobb's Marion County history book it makes reference to the fact I.P. Blue's house burned and all of the early church records were lost in the fire. I.P. Blue also served as clerk of Phillippi Primitive Baptist church for a number of years and those minutes are available in the Schley county archives.) I am so thrilled to read the April Tracer. "The Forgotten Travelers Rest Cemeteries" is the feature article, and John discusses how he has gone about trying to locate graves of ancestors. (you'll pick up some good hints) He emphasizes how important it is for all of us to be involved with protecting these small cemeteries that are being threatened. He includes some wonderful photos of tombstones in the Travelers Rest Baptist Church (and there is also a Methodist Church Cemetery as well) With each featured tombstone he has provided information about the person when he was able to locate them. Another interesting feature is James Gray's Sinclair Station in Butler...1950's. If you lived in Taylor County during this time, you'll especially enjoy these pages and a trip down memory lane to the "filling station". 1928 Reynolds Basketball Team (all identified) Reynolds Music Class (all identified) 1910 Reynolds Baseball Team (all identified) And of course pages and pages of 1908 Butler Herald abstracts. Let us know if you don't receive any issue. And remember to take a copy to your local library and encourage them to subscribe. This monthly bulletin provides so much information for anyone researching in west central Georgia...not just Taylor County. Virginia

Someone asked me a question about the Shady Grove Cemetery --- (and Angela was able to help with it.) This is located near Doyle, and is quite overgrown. This prompted me to check the "obits" that Carla has been doing, and I was able to add several more names based on this. It appears to me that this was once a Shady Grove Church and the graves were mainly early 1900's. Does anyone know anything about the history of the church. We also have an African-American Shady Grove Baptist church near Brantley. http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/ga/marion/cemeteries/shadyaa.txt Johnny's posting from Family Programs for the funerals, gave us additional names for this.
