Whelpley and Miss Alma Lawhorn at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. W.O. McIntosh, of this city, on Thursday afternoon last was an agreeable surprise, as it was quite unexpected. Rev. Scott, pastor of the Methodist church, performed the ceremony that united in holy matrimony one of our most popular citizens and one of our lovely and attractive young ladies. There were no cards, only the immediate families being present. Immediately after the marriage the happy couple left on the A.C.L. train for Tampa. They returned Saturday evening on the Tampa Northern. The Brooksville brass band gave them a delightful serenading on their return. They are now at home to all their friends. The bride is a charming young lady who came from Buena Vista to make her home in our beautiful city several months ago. She has become deservedly popular, as she possesses a most winning and attractive personality. All who know her are warm and devoted friends. Mr. Whelpley has been for many years a progressive citizen of Brooksville, being closely identified with the growth and prosperity of the city, much of which is due to his active efforts and generous public spirit. He has been for a number of years tax assessor of the county and president of the city council. He is also president of the Brooksville board of trade. The happy couple have the blessings and hearty good will of our entire community upon their nuptials. Southern Argus, Brooksville, Fla. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: BAILEY, DUNN Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/Rd.2ADE/122.1 Message Board Post: I have a PHILIP BAILEY b. 1760-1769, place unknown, who died in Marion County in 1839. ELISABETH BAILEY b. 1766 in NC or SC is belived to be his wife and is in the 1850 Marion census. She apparently died right after the 1850 census. ELISABETH is next to JACK and SUSANA DUNN in the 1850 census and it is believed ELISABETH is either a DUNN or her daughter SUSANA is a BAILEY. The only other connection on PHILIP in Marion County is that he was an original member in the Philippi Primitive Baptist Church. PHILIP was in Twiggs County, Ga. by 1818 and in Houston County, Ga. by 1822. Where he lived in Houston became part of Macon County which was formed out of Houston and Marion County and in 1837 part of Macon was given back to Marion. Your JACK is the right age to be a son of PHILIP. Do you connect in any way.

My March 2005 Tracer arrived today in record time! (Remember to let us know if you don't receive any month's issue) As always John Adams does such an excellent job. This one showed how diligently he researches and prepares these monthly bulletins. This issue features the "original Houston County" -- with some great maps and manuscripts. The western border was the Flint River which is so relevant to Taylor County research. Davine Campbell, who has helped so many of us with our Macon County research, was the Society's Guest Speaker on March 15. I know any of you who were able to attend learned so much! We've discussed on this list about the Barnar brothers and their Indian trading post -- and this issue really goes into depth on the subject. I can hardly wait to read it thoroughly. The usual Butler Herald abstracts complete the issue -- May 1907 - Dec 1907. The complete index is already on-line, and many of the photos will soon be featured on the Society page. http://www.rootsweb.com/~gatchgs/index.htm Virginia Crilley
