Hey Kenneth and other researchers, Thanks for the information announcing your genealogy website. It looks great and I've found a connection already. James W. Carruth is a nephew to my 4th great grandfather Adam Carruth of Madison County, Ga. James W. also had a son named Burgess b ca 1849. James W. was a son of James Carruth and Elizabeth McEwan m 12 Oct. 1798 Oglethorpe Co., Ga. James and Adam moved to Ga. in about 1794 with their father Robert Carruth from N.C. James W. had the following siblings: Elizabeth A., Peggy (Margaret) H., Robert K., Sarah F., and Alexander L. Carruth. This information is found in Mrs. Lela Grant Carruth's book, "From Whence Ye Came." She notes that James Carruth was eighteen years old when he went with his father to Ga. in 1794 and obtained land on Long Creek but later bought ninety-nine acres on Bluestone Creek. This book also gives you the ancestry for the Carruths back to James Carruth of Antrim Co., Ireland and the history for the Carruth surname thought to be a place name from Carruth or lands of Carruth found in Renfrewshire, Scotland. Would be glad to do a look up in this book or others I have for the Carruth surname for those interested. Would also like to hear from others connected to the Carruth (general spelling -- also Carrouth, Caruth, Coruth, Cruth,...). Best wishes, Harvey Carrouth http://carruthfam.email.listbot.com/ http://www.bnpages.com/hobbies/carrouth/index.html Part of the list for Carruths found at: http://home.earthlink.net/~kengland/ Carruth, James W.
