BIRD, age 31, born Oglethorpe Residence: Oglethorpe Father: Joe BIRD, age 32, born Madison Co Reported by W. E. McKee, MD Premature Birth GA mandated Statewide registrations of Birth, Death & Marriage records in 1875, and then repealed the act in 1876 due to poor participation. The GA State Archives site (and Ancestry's Red Book) lists 14 counties that complied with this act and whose 1875-76 vital records are available at the GA State Archives. Madison Co is not listed (and neither is Oglethorpe), but the Oglethorpe records are available through the Family History Library in Salt Lake City. I don't know if such records are available for Madison or any other counties not listed by the GA State Archives. Does anyone know?? The following site lists the 14 counties that do have 1875 vital records that are available at the Archives: http://www.sos.state.ga.us/archives/rs/gbdr.htm Jeanne Arguelles ejarguelles@msn.com
