Mary and all: Mary, I viewed your web site and see that you have a lot of GUEST names. I have 41 GUEST names 1 BRAGG in Cannon Co., TN (marr. Margaret D. TOLBERT not listed at the web site and not my line yet) and 15 JACKSONs at my web site: http://back40.bizland.com/web/ancestors/mykin/index3.htm#Guest This is an index page and it is large so it loads slow. Give the page time to load to see all the names. I hope there will be others who can connect to my GUEST lines. So far, I have not connected to Mary's GUEST line (mine is earlier) but I do have 3 Benjamin GUEST names and some others who could be related. I feel that there is probably a connection from Franklin to Madison Co., GA since Madison was formed from parts of Franklin. My lines are dotted throughout with AYERS and BLAIR connections who were also in Habersham Co., GA. My GUESTs were primarily in Franklin Co., GA and went to TX. Here are a few of my notes on Capt. Moses GUEST: Capt. Moses GUEST was born in Fauquier Co., VA 1750 and died in Franklin Co., GA in 1837. He enlisted in Wilkes Co., NC; removed to Pendleton, SC; served as a Capt. He received a pension for his service as a Rev. Soldier while a resident of Franklin Co., GA. Moses married Mary BLAIR, who survived him, and received a pension. Their children: Sanford, Susanna, Morgan, William, Moses Jr., John, Hall, Nathaniel, Cobb, Burton Giles, Elizabeth, Mary, Celia who married Archibald COCKBURN, Cynthia, Susan, Annie. For these records see: National #70283 of Mrs. Chas. Walker who joined the Atlanta Chapter of D.A.R. on record of Capt. Moses GUEST. Also see these same records on pgs. 78-79 of "Roster of Revolutionary Soldiers in Georgia" by Mr. H.H. McCall. "Card Catalog", at Dept. of Archives and History, Peachtree St., Atlanta, GA carry the following: "Moses GUEST P.P., Franklin County, January 2, 1809. Sheriff of Franklin County March 21, 1786." Madison Co., GA was created in 1811 from parts of Elbert, Franklin, Jackson and Oglethorpe Counties. !SOURCE: B.H.A.F by Smallwood... !SOURCE: Received data and FGC for Moses' father, William, and siblings from Bill L. GUEST. He is the author of "Compendium of Guest-Guess Descendants of William Guest, Sr." I have a line of Moses GUEST and first wife Mary BLAIR; Bill states in his FGS that sometime after 1757 and prior to 1762, William Guest, Sr. and wife, Susannah, moved his family from Prince William Co., VA to Frederick Co., VA. About 1769, the family moved again from Frederick Co., VA to Surry (Wilkes) Co., NC. Again in 1785 William moved his family from Wilkes Co., NC to SC. !SOURCE: The Land of Wilkes by Hayes, Publisher: Wilkes Co. Historical Society 1962. Data from Bill L. You can read about the Bragg Family on Damon Floyd's very excellent web site http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~damon/ As far as I know William Bragg, Revolutionary War Soldier, was the first Bragg in Madison Co. You can see how he fits into this family on my web page http://www.tyler.net/mlb/. You can also read about a lot of other Madison Co folks - and more is coming.
