    3. Hi, Nancy and everyone, I'm not kin to the Longs, but since Crawford Williamson Long achieved such a monumental feat in using ether for anesthesia, I wonder if anyone can tell me why he is listed as dying in Comfort, Texas, in 1888. My encyclopedia entry reads "Long, Crawford Williamson (b. Nov. 1, 1815, Danielsville, Ga. U.S.--d. June 16, 1878, Athens,Ga.)." _The New Encyclopedia Britannica_, Micropaedia, Vol. 7, Chicago 1990, p.462. Were his remains moved to Texas? Was there another Crawford W.? I'd really like to know. I happened to spend a couple of days in Comfort a few years ago. It would be a nice location for the grave of the man who helped do away with so much pain. Any information would be appreciated.
