Ga Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ga/Madison/179 Surname: DUDLEY ------------------------- Several of us believe that Willis was the son of James L. Dudley & Polly Hendrick. We need proof that he was their son. If so, he would have been a brother to my GGG Grandfather Lemuel Dudley. I have a letter that Lemuel wrote June 12, 1862 to his wife during the War Between the States. (These letters are soon to be posted on the Madison County Genweb site.) He mentions that Willis went home and Lawson another brother is sick. This is one reaspon we suspect Willis is a brother. Another reason, Willis is listed living very close to James L. on the 1850 Madison County census. I have a birthdate of about 1827 for Willis, this taken from that same census. (James & Polly were married in 1825.) I thought that maybe wife Elizabeth was a Porterfield but was not for certain. I have listed 1 daughter, Frances for them and this was from the same census. I just started working seriously on my Dudley family about a year ago. I have taken a break after the holidays and have not gotten back into it like I should. I would like to hear what you think about a possible connection between Lemuel and Willis.
