Frances (Diamond) Strickland , experienced the travil of her husband, Solomon Strickland, siring a baby by her niece, brother William's daughter, Margaret (Peggy). The charge was statuary rape, indicating the girl was fourteen or younger. The charge was brought by Peggy's father, William Diamond, and Solomon Strickland was judged guilty. (Jasper County, Georgia Superior Court 98461, 1811, Location 179-1-1 Box 38 Loc. 4284-34) The child was Elijah Strickland, born 13 July 1809. He married Bethany Smith Sept 26, 1832 in Henry County, Georgia. In the census of 1850 he is farming in that county, is age 41, wife 38, and they have six children.
