I do not know when. My grandfather's name was Emmett Newsome. He was born Sept 11, 1917 in Ga. I do not know exactly where. He died in Labelle, FL in July of 1984. He married Maggie Rimes in (b. 6/1923 d. 1/1990) in Polk County, FL. He lived most of his adult life in South Florida. I did not have a chance to get to know them very well, as I was young when they passed. They had four children together: Joyce Newsome Fehringer (b. 05/09/1953), that is my mother, Robert Emmett Newsome (b 08/28/1945 in FL d 08/13/1998 in PA), Earnie Randall Newsome (b 05/10/1950 in FL). Emmett has a brother; Foy (Scobie) Newsome m. to Reba Albritton and they live in Wachula, FL. He also has two half brothers (I think) John and Henry. I am not even sure if the half brothers are living. The only thing I know of his parents is that they came from GA and the mother's name was Sar! a or Sallie. I have heard that she may be Native American possibly Cherokee, but I am extremely unsure of that. I am desperate to learn anything. I don't have any resources left within my immediate family so I am hopeful that maybe someone who reads this message may be able to provide something. Thank you in advance to anyone who responds.
