I cannot read the publisher on the spine of The History of Madison County, Georgia, by Paul Tabor. It's ?????? Press....looks like Applegate Press or Aggregate Press. Does anyone know?

One reader has responded that the high school was still in existence in 1953 and that she has an annual from that year if she can find it. This is starting to sound very familiar to my hometown's Maysville High School, which was an independent city-operated school system until about 1955 when the building burned.
Hello again and thanks for the many inquiries into the photo I mentioned earlier today. It has generated a lot of interest and I was wondering if someone would perhaps post comments concerning Colbert High School, which I never knew existed until finding the print. How long was it in operation? Where was the building located. Any other relevant facts? Researchers: I wanted to tell you again about my series of books entitled "THESE MEN WORE GREY". These books not only give you every identifiable Burial location of all the Confederate Soldiers in each county and their wives but also gives you Genealogical information on each man, even his marriage date and his parents marriage records if they could be found. Also included in each book are the complete MILITIA enrollment lists for each county, the Complete SALT RECORDS (which includes wives, widows, families dependent on the labor of a soldier and disabled soldiers) in each county, MUSTER ROLLS from each county including some obscure rolls of Cavalry and Old Men's Homeguard units, PENSION RECORDS, LETTERS HOME (in some volumes), and each book contains some special records found in courthouses never before published. MY WEBPAGE IS "Http://www.hartcom.net/~scv935/grey" Each Volume is featured on a separate page and has a complete listing of what each book contains even a SURNAME INDEX for each volume. ORDER BLANK IS provided there for your convenience. If you have questions please e-mail me. I am currently at work on JACKSON CO. which will be Volume VII of the series. Karen T. Ledford/Toccoa, Ga. I have found a picture from my grandmother's belongings. On the back is scribbled what appears to be Odei Glenn and wife. My grandmother was Ida Merle Morris, d/o Will & Georgia Morris. Georgia Sims Morris' grandmother was a Glenn. I am thinking this picture may be of Odell Glenn and maybe he was nicknamed Odie Glenn. Does anyone have an idea? I can email you the picture if you desire. Thanks, Todd Dorsey Maysville, GA

"Returns in the Estate of Rozel Burroughs, decd for 1836" contain an item (Copy of Receipts) where Pamelia Burroughs paid for 40 days notice to debtors and creditors and 40 days notice of Sale of Property, payment being received Mar 26, 1836 to the "Southern Whig." This appears to have been a newspaper published in that area and time frame. Can anyone enlighten me on this newspaper? Ken Leaird
Hey everyone...I just purchased the book, Historical Sketches: Presbyterian Churches and Early Settlers in Northeast Georgia, from the Madison County Library. I am trying to link some of the referenced individuals in the book to my family tree. I thought some of you "seasoned" researchers could help out or maybe already tried this. In particular, I am interested in the James Griffeth mentioned on page 51 under "No. 3." It reads, "Besides the son and daughter already named as the children of his first wife, he reared four sons and three daughters by his second wife, namely; James Griffeth, Jr., Patton, Walton, and Oliver Griffeth; Mrs. Sorrells, the mother of Mrs. Charles Sorrells; Mrs. Eberhart, the wife of George Eberhart, Esqr., and Mrs. Bullock, the first wife of Major Bullock." I cannot find the "first wife and the son and daughter already named" listed in the book anywhere. I am wondering if any of these people are the people I have listed in my tree as follows: Thanks in advance for any responses. Todd Dorsey Maysville, Banks Co. Hello, Can anyone tell me about the family of Sarah F. Gallagher of Madison County (or nearby) GA, born about 1842? She married Rosewall Burroughs of Madison County in about 1860 and died sometime after 1920. I believe both she and her husband died in the early 1920's, probably in Athens, GA. Regards, Rick Elliott San Jose CA
Hi, I am trying to find information about my folks from the Ila area. My grandfather was Robert Johnson Westbrook, who practiced medicine in and around Ila for 55 years. His wife was Desdemona Smith Westbrook, and her father was William Lloyd Smith. Dr. R.J. Westbrook had a brother named George, who was also a doctor in Ila. Desdemona Smith Westbrook's mother was, I think, Mattie Lou Williams. Any information on these families would be greatly appreciated. I live in Laredo, Texas, but I hope to send any information back to my mother in Comer, Ga. Best regards, Robert Haynes
Could the list owner please contact me. Thank You, Belinda savadge@alltel.net
Todd, In answer to your question regarding the parents of Carl Young Burroughs-- his parents seem to have been Rozzil I. Burroughs (1859-?) and Mary Young. If you have any further information on the Burroughs family, or descendants of Carl and Mary, I'd love to hear from you. Good Luck. Regards, Rick Elliott San Jose CA
Really. I forgot I was on the list. LOL So, I'm searching for Grimes of Madison/Elbert/Oglethorpe Counties. I've got Gabriel W., William who married Olive Bell, Thomas Miner, and Washington Grimes-who named his son Gabriel, ALL crossing paths an awful lot and no one seems to think Gabriel W. belongs to their bunch. Somethings fishy about it. Still have found no will or place of buriel. Any leads appreciated, will share. kathy
