I am searching for information on the following. Matthew J. Patton married Lucy E. Barnett in Oglethorpe County, Georgia on Oct. 7, 1845. I believe that Lucy E. Barnett is Lucy Elentine Barnett, daughter of William and Elizabeth Barnett. I have not been able to prove this. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Jim
There is currently an effort underway by the Madison County Greys chapter of the CSA to identify the gravesites of all Madison County area veterans of the War of Northern Aggression. (reference The Madison County Journal 8-2-2000) "Anyone with knowwledge of a Confederate gravesite in Madison and surrounding counties may obtain and fill out a Confederate Grave Registration form. The forms will be available at the Madison County Library in Danielsville or from The Madison County Greys." "Contact Frank Gillespie, Adjutant, *snail mail address deleted* or e-mail frankg@mcga.net to obtain a copy." The article goes on to say that the completed forms will be made available through the Madison County library with a second and third set being kept at the local and National headquarters of the SCV. I realize this doesn't necessarily "help" you today but with everyone's help in the future this could be a great asset for just this situation. Guy A. Hart

I think I have some info. on this line, but I've always had some confusion about it (too many DEEN/DEANs with the same first names). I have the parents of these two brothers as Shadrack DEEN Jr. (b. about 1785 - d. after 1850) and Mary Ann VINYARD (b. 1789 - d. 18 OCT 1845). Maybe I've skipped a generation or have the wrong father. I have Shadrack Jr. as the son of Shadrack DEEN Sr. (b abt 1745 - d. 1 Mar 1813)
Hi, Someone posted a message yesterday on the Strickland list and mentioned a John Strickland from Georgia that she was researching. It got me thinking about MY John Strickland. I'm just getting started on this line, so I don't have a lot of information. My Great-great grandfather was John Allan Strickland. He lived in the Canon area of Franklin County, GA. His first wife was Luvannah Brewer, who later became Luvannah Brown. She lived and is burried near Royston, in Madison County. On my Grandfather's birth certificate, John should have been born around 1865. There is a John Allan Strickland in Rosehill Cemetery in Royston, GA born in 1865, but relatives tell me it can't possibly be the same one.....since almost all of my ancestors are burried there, I assume they are correct. John and Luvannah were divorced....in the very early 1900's. I've got a request in for a copy of their divorce decree, but haven't heard back on that yet. Right now, I'm just trying to find death information or something to give me an accurate birth date. Has anybody run across this John Strickland? Any leads would be greatly appreciated. I posted a listing for a new book of interest to researchers of this area yesterday. It is the 1797/99 & 1802 Tax Digest for Jackson County, Georgia by Belinda Savadge (savadge@alltel.net) It is posted at http://www.rootsweb.com/~gamadiso/sources.htm#non_personal It is a transcription of the first Tax Digest book in the Jackson County, Georgia Probate Court Office. It has what has been located of the 1797, 1799 and all of the 1802 Tax Digest. 1800 & 1801 are missing. Since portions of Madison County were once part of Jackson County, It may be a link for some on this list. -- Thomas Hammack, Jr. (Tom) Gulfport, Mississippi
