    3. Since the merger of the MyFamily, Ancestry and RootsWeb Messages boards, some of our lists are being inundated with messages that follow various threads on the boards. Since, even if you register to post to the boards, you have no charge for it, please go to the boards and sign up for the "My Notifications" and get the messages that way. This feature was not available on the old board. Now those who want to get them all still can. Those who do not, do not have to wade throught them. Hopefully this will please most of you, since you will not lose the ability to get the notifications. Enjoy -- Thomas Hammack, Jr. (Tom) Gulfport, Mississippi

Classification: Queries Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Qd.2ADE/116.1 Message Board Post: The parents of Lucinda Stephens were Stephen Stephens, bn. abt 1754 & Sarah(Sallie) Hodge, bn. abt 1770. One of Lucinda's brothers was Stephen B. Stephens bn. abt. 1791, my g-g-grandfather through his youngest son, William Neal Stephens, bn. in Franklin Co., GA abt.1847. The father of Pleasant Hemphill, is reported to be Samuel Hemphill,Jr., this provided me by a descendant of Pleasant. His mother is unknown to me. According to my figures, Samuel Jr. would have been in his 60's when Pleasant was bn. in 1811 but this is most certainly a possibility. Parents of Samuel Hemphill, Jr. are reported to be Samuel, Sr. and Sarah Semple, bn. ca 1700 in Scotland. I hope this will help you.

    1. Information on John SANDERS m. Mary HODGE; James Gildersleeve WOOTTON
    2. George K. Halsell
    3. Hello. I am hoping that someone can help me find out more information about John SANDERS, who was born after 1794, and died before January 1844, probably in "Madison City" (can anyone clarify what the current name of that town is?) in Madison Co. He is listed as the Assistant Marshall for the 1820 census. He married Mary "Polly" HODGE on 24 Oct 1815 in Madison Co. She was the daughter of William HODGE III and Ann SAYE; she was born 28 Jan 1795 in Madison Co. and died in 1869, probably in Lafayette Co., MS. They had (I think) nine children: William Joseph S., m. Eleanor A. LESTER Sally Ann S., poss. m. Briton STAMPS Dorcas K. S. Charity S., m. W. S. HADFIELD Elizabeth Elenor (or Ellen) S., m. James Gildersleeve WOOTTON (my connection) 2 other male children 2 other female children FWIW, Elizabeth Elenor SANDERS and her husband, James Gildersleeve WOOTTON, had a child named John Leaper WOOTTON, making me wonder whether John SANDERS was related to Malinda SANDERS, who married Hugh LEEPER - about the only occurrence of that name I have found in the Madison Co. area. I am also trying to find out more information about James Gildersleeve WOOTTON. About the only information I have on him is that his mother was Delia DRAKE, b. 1795 (apparently illegitimate), and that he had a sister or half-sister, Elizabeth DRAKE. Thanks for any help you can provide. George K. Halsell gmhalsell@onewest.net

My grandfather, Norman Lee Cheatham (1890 - 1970) was also a grandson of John Isham, and son of James John (abt. 1857 - 1902). N. L. was first cousins with Montie. N.
