Hey Y'all, Was wondering two things about Black's Creek Baptist Church: 1.) What is the official mailing address and telephone number of the Church? (Cannot find it via Infoseek, etc.,...) 2.) Does anyone know if the Church allows folks to peruse old records? If so, are records available from the 1800's???? (If they are, I think they would be exceptionally valuable to us!) Heidi in Atlanta
Glenda I would love to put these records in the Madison County GAGenWeb Archives if you would be willing to share them and it sounds like you are. Let me know. Perhaps others have church records and other records they would like to share. I'm looking for info on my ggg-grandmother, Keziah Freeman, b. Sept 27, 1814, d. Feb 14, 1866, m. Willis Deen in Madison Co, August 29 or 30, 1838 (Marriage book says 29th, family bible transcription says 30th). I recently found one old (1999) query from Judie Eaves, which indicated Keziah's parents may have been Joel Freeman and Elizabeth Ware of Virginia, who moved to GA in approximately 1802. Siblings may have been James C., Matthew S., William J., Elizabeth, Agnes W. and Joel N. Also possible David P., Frederick, and Thomas W. Freeman were siblings, according to Judie's query; Keziah's birthday listed as 1813 in the same query. I've attempted contacting Judie directly, but have not received any response. Does any one have any ideas/leads/info? I've seen some contributed info on the worldconnect project, but none of it mentions Keziah, only Matthew S. and some of his descendants. I know there was a Joel Freeman living near the Deen households in Madison County throughout the census records, but have not been able to determine if Joel was Keziah's father, other than through Judie's query. Willis Deen was the son of Thomas Wesley Deen and Elizabeth Phillips; grandparents were Shadrick/Shadrack and Mourning Deen. The Deen name is frequently misspelled as Dean; in the mid to late 1800's, some family members did take the D-E-A-N spelling. Thanks for your help! _________________________________________________________________ Chat with friends online, try MSN Messenger: http://messenger.msn.com

Ran across some photos of an "Alf" (Alfred?) Street who was married to "Lizzie" and one photo of "Hallie" Byrd. I think these folks were from Jackson/Madison counties area circa mid-to-late 1800's. Do these names ring any bells with anyone???? Heidi Streetman

Announcing a new project of the Georgia GenWeb Archives... Georgia Family Group Sheets! http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/ga/bios/groupindx.html This will be a great new resource for Georgia researchers! Please visit the site and then take a few minutes to send in your Georgia Family Group Sheets. Just copy and paste the blank group sheet form onto an email, add your family info, sources & notes, and send it to Bettie Wood at nana321@txucom.net (You can also send group sheets generated by your genealogy program, but please contact Bettie before sending any attachments to make sure she can open them). This is a great and easy way for *everyone* to contribute data to the GAGenWeb Archives! As with all the files in the GAGenWeb Archives, the Search Engine enables someone to find your material from whatever county they happen to be searching. And it will be an added plus for you....you can just refer people to the URL when they write you asking questions about your family line!! Jeanne Arguelles ejarguelles@msn.com
Thanks to Tom for his work with Madison County GA GenWeb and welcome to Jeanne as the new CC, List Manager, etc. Jeanne and I have been working together for several years as she and my husband share ancestors. She is an excellent researcher and together I hope that we can have the best of online help for Madison County Researchers. You can help, too, by submitting information to us. Sorry that that I am a bit behind with the Archives. I had foot surgery a month ago today. The foot surgery has gone well but I had a blood clot, then an allergic reaction to the medication and itch, itch, itch! I am much better but still have to keep my leg "up" so my time on the computer is limited. Hope to be back soon! If you have sent me info that is not up, please write me as I have been unable to upload info and it may have been misplaced. I will try to get it up as soon as possible. Looking forward to your new page, Jeanne! The Sons of the American Revolution Georgia Society has changed the policy somewhat to observe the anniversary of the battle on the second Saturday of each February. Thus, the fifth annual SAR observance is Feb. 9th, 2002. For more information go to http://www.rootsweb.com/~gawilkes/#kettle I have also posted directions and a link to an interactive map with the ability to give the map from anywhere in the US (Off site.) I also had the help of a local citizen with written directions to the event. There have been names added to the monument since last year and I have an image posted on the Virtual Tour of the Battleground. Feel free to send this on to any with an interest in the event. -- Thomas Hammack, Jr. (Tom) Gulfport, Mississippi

I need to find information on the death of Mary E. Fortson, born 1869 in Madison County, Ga. Married William L. Tyner January 11, 1885 in Madison County, Ga. She was the daughter of Francis Asbury Fortson and Lucy J. Johnson, who were married in Madison County, Ga August 31, 1863. William L. Tyner and Mary E. Fortson had two children: Fannie Merenthia Tyner, born 1891 in Madison Co., Ga, and William Comers Tyner, born 1889 in Madison Co., Ga. Between the birth of Fannie Merenthia Tyner in 1891, and the record of the William L. Tyner family in the 1900 Madison Co Census, William L. Tyner had married D.C.S. Maronie (Source: Madison County Marriage Index (Book I, 1889-1900), and had several step children. William L. Tyner's death certificate shows that he died November 24, 1941, in Greenwood, Greenwood County, SC, and is buried at Edgewood Cemetery, in Greenwood, SC. The death certificate shows that his widow was Mrs. Emma Hill Tyner; so he was married at least to three different women. Does any Madison County Researcher have information surrounding the death of this Mary E. Fortson Tyner? Thank you, Jim Gilmer
Hi- I have been unsuccessful locating a Walter H Hill. I originally thought his death certificate said Poole Cemetery but realized I was incorrectly reading it. It says Paoli Cemetery. Walter lived in Homer, Brookline, Madison County and died there in 19 June 1925. I did not find a Paoli Cemetery in the Madison County Cemetery book. Is there such a place? Is it transcribed in another book? Any help pointing me in the right direction would be appreciated. Thank you Dawn M. Hill
