I am seeking information on the Martin McElreath family in Madison County (ancestry and descendents). Martin Van Buren McElreath, born 1832, died June 1, 1930. married Mary Ann Beasley on May 16, 1860 in Lumpkin County. She was born Feb. 4, 1836, died Oct. 16, 1925. I have just discovered that my Gr gr gr Grandmother Dycie Bevel(who married John Adams) was from possibly the Pendleton, SC area. They moved to Madison Co., GA area in about 1835 and they both died and are buried in Madison Co., GA. I can tell you that this branch lived in or very near to the town of Hull, probably either between there and the Clarke/Oglethorpe line, or on the other side between there or Spratlin Mill and are probably buried in the Old Hull (Johnson) Cemetery there but don't quote me on that. I've got a good bit of information on this branch on "my" computer, I'm usually on my Mom's because mine is so junky ... but that's another story. I have the following HEMPHILL names in my AYERS line. They were in Jackson Co., GA: Robert Hemphill, Sr. marr. Sarah (Sary) Robert, Jr. marr. Mary Riddy Bond. She later marr. Obediah Dean Minnie Tallulah b.13 Jul 1862 Franklin Co., GA marr.. Joseph Russell Ayers b.20 Jun 1861 Carnsville, Franklin Co., GA. Their AYERS children: Robert Jeremiah b.1882, Clyde Russell b.1883, Ernest Joseph b.1886, Lucy b.1888, Bessie Lois b.1890, Lettie Mae (twin) b.1893, Male (twin) b.1893. A good source for HEMPHILL data is "Robert Hemphill and His Descendants 1775-1985", by June Coker McNew, pgs. 292-297 and p.322. Notes: Robert Hemphill, Jr. d. CSA, Sarah (widow) then marr. Obadiah Dean Nov 1865. Robert d.Feb.1865. His ancestors are probably the ones in Tyron-Lincoln Co. (and Rowan), NC mentioned in deeds. Minnie d.28 Sep 1894 of typhoid fever. Husband Joseph Russell Ayers was granted guardianship papers 7 Jan 1895. He died a few months later of pneumonia. The children were then orphans. Joseph's brother, Sanford Marion Ayers, Sr., was appointed guardian. Sanford and another brother T.W., and atom WILLIFOIRD all helped to raise the minor children. Hope this helps someone. I am looking for a set of brothers(that married two sisters-i think) that were in Clarke County, GA. Here is the info. I have: 1) Isaac F. Martin married Nancy M. Mobley on 5 May 1867 in Clarke County, GA. 2) William P. Martin married Sarah Ann Mobley on 28 November 1869 in Clarke County, GA.
