Good Evening, I have been searching for my Tait/Tate family in GA for some time now. My Tait/Tate family was in Madison Co during the 1840s. I have found them listed on the census records and it list William A. Tate as a farmer. I would like to know if anyone has any info about this family. It would also seem that William's oldest son James Henry Tate married his wife Martha (?) there. His marriage record isn't listed in the court house records, it maybe that they were married in a church. Would like to know if anyone has this info or how to get it. Also would like to know if any one in Madison Co will make a trip to the court house for any land records that William A. Tate had. Would like to have a copy of them. Thanks, will pay for the time and cost. Dixie

I have the following tree in my file. I am descended from Lucretia Strickland-(daughter of Richard) and her husband , Robert Smith. Also I have been told that Lucretia -wife of Richard was a Washington--but I have not researched that yet--so don't take that part as gospel. I would love any additions or corrections. Hi, I have a curiousity about STRICKLAND families in Madison Co.,GA, because my ancestor, Wiley Jones Bridges may have been married to a Jane or Jenny Strickland daughter of Solomon Strickland and Amy Pace. I've done a minute amount of research regarding some estate records of Stricklands in this county but I can't remember which ones I've looked at. I will look and see if I have anything about Henry. After years of trying to connect our branch of the Looney family to the more established branches throughout the South (via other group lists).... I am once again asking for help from those who are familiar with the Madison Co., Ga. records. George Washington "G.W." Looney b. 23 March 1864 in Ga. to parents [unknown] who were also both apparently born in Ga. On 25 Feb. 1886, in Madison Co., Ga., "G.W." married Mary "Lee" [maiden name appears to be either Eaton or Slaton]. The marriage register is difficult to read. "G.W." apparently had a sister named Mary J. Looney who was married on 11 Nov 1886 in Madison Co., Ga. to Charlie L. Roach. [nothing further is known about Mary and Charlie]. "G.W." and "Lee" had several children while residing in Madison Co., Ga. 1. Henry b. 7 Apr 1887 2. Ella b. Apr 1889 3. Louis "Lonnie" Jefferson b. Oct 1893 4. Dolan Albert b. 19 Jul 1895 5. Floyd b. 28 Sep 1897 6. Alice "Allie" b. May 1899 Right after Allie's birth, the family moved to Lawrence Co., AL., where "Lee" died shortly after giving birth to their last child: Sallie b. Oct 1901. "G.W." later remarried and had several more children. He and his 2nd wife eventually moved to Jones Co., MS. where he died on 27 Mar 1947. If anyone can assist me in locating who the parents of our GEORGE WASHINGTON LOONEY and MARY J. (LOONEY) ROACH were... it would be greatly appreciated. I suspect that with that information... I'd be able to tie our family into the other Looney families and obtain an extensive ancestral record. Thanks in advance. John C. Sears JSears2111@aol.com
