Grandma's 1st husband (my grandpa) was Frank Austin Long (1908 - 1936) Austin's parents were James Clark Long and Octavia Johnson. Octavia was a sister of John Henry Johnson. The clipping mentions no year, believe it was 1949 or 1950. Not sure if it was a Gordon county newspaper or one from Macon County. Some spelling and punctuation is questionable, but is copied EXACTLY as printed. > > " J.H Johnson, 74, Dies at Marshallville " > > John Henry Johnson, 74, died at his home at Marshallville on October 5 at 3:30 o'clock. He was a former citizen of Gordon County. > > Mr. Johnson was born in Cherokee County, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry T. Johnson, pioneer settlers there. He had been a resident of Macon County for 20 years, having spent most of his early life in Gordon County. > > His survivors are his widow, a daughter, Mrs. Henry Barrett, Marshallville; two sons, Alton Johnson, Marshallville, and Howard Johnson, Oglethorpe, and four grandchildren. > > He was active in his farm operations until a week before his death. He was a deacon in the Baptist Church of Marshallville. > > Funeral services were held at the Marshallville Baptist Church on Saturday, October 7, at 11 o'clock, conducted by the Rev. J. R. Smith, of McRae; the Rev. Raymond Harvey, of Fort Valley; the Rev. Charles Evans and the Rev. Swoll Sawyer, of Marshallville. > > A number of relatives from Gordon County were among the out-of-town attendants. > > . > > > This is an automatically-generated notice. > > <http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ga/MaconObits?admin> > >
