April 5, 1929 > LEON HOLLOWAY DIES AT OTEEN, NORTH CAROLINA - News reached here Wednesday of the death of George Leon Holloway, which occurred at the Government Hospital, at Oteen, N.C. Tuesday afternoon. Mr. Holloway enlisted in the army shortly after war was declared against Germany, being wounded by flying shrapnel. He lay on the battlefield sometime before he was found and taken to a hospital unconscious. His health was shattered by the occurence and this was the cause of his ultimate death. He was born and reared in the Englishville District and has a host of friends in this community, who will regret to learn of his passing. > Surviving are his father, Mr. Levi M. Holloway of Andersonville and eight brothers, V. M. Holloway of Americus; Lewis E. Holloway of Atlanta; Olin and Lucius Holloway of Andersonville, Rufus, Morris and A. L. Holloway of Florida and Levi M. Holloway, Jr. of Norman Park.
