Members of Jonathan Halstead's family (Halstead was the U.S. Government Appointed Trader at Milledgeville's Fort Wilkinson and at Macon's Fort Hawkins ca. 1800) are visiting Middle Georgia, from Texas, South Carolina and from multiple locations in Georgia, this weekend for the Fort Hawkins Frontier Day celebration. On Friday, I am leading members of this group to the sites where their ancestor worked, lived and died. Everyone with interests in Middle Georgia's frontier era is invited to join us. All events are free, but people participating on Friday should be prepared to pay for lunch and to provide their own transportation (our round trip is about 80 miles).
