Hi Davine, Thanks for the 1860 Martin family! It does look like you say that Ann is (now a widow) from 1850, and the names of her children fit right in the same names of mine that went to AL. This gives me more hope that I will eventually tie my Willaim Martin in as a son of Joseph Sr. I had not expected to find the older Joseph Martin alive in 1860. Finding Joseph Sr before 1850 seems impossible. I know he did not just crawl out from a rock somewhere! I did get a lookup for a tax digest and recieved this from a very kind lady: 1852 Tax Digest of Macon Co., GA DISTRICT 757 - William Martin 1 Poll $274 Other $ Value - No property James Martin No Polls 150 acres Lot 224/2nd Dist. Macon Co. 200 acres Lot 153/5th Dooly Co., Ga. $1500 +$167 Other Jasper Martin 1 Poll - $152 Other $ value - No property This Jasper Martin would be mine, that went to AL. I have been looking for maps with land lots, which are very hard to find. I finally found one over at Taylor County which gives what looks like #224 in the 2nd, just over the line in Macon County. Is this correct? http://www.rootsweb.com/~gataylor/oldmap.htm#macon2 It looks like James (Joseph Jr?) sold only part of his 150ac to Martin Harp. That might be where John H. was in 1870? I really do appreciate all your help, Marj
