Thank you, Marj
Sorry, I can't find a lot on this family but they lived in the 757th Dist. of Macon Co., Ga. which borders Schley Co., formerly Marion Co., Ga. "A" James Martin appears in the 1852 Macon Co., Ga. Tax Digest owning Lot No. 224/2nd Dist. Orig. Muscogee, Later Marion, Now Macon Co., Ga. This James does not appear in either the 1850 nor 1860 Census of Macon County, nor is he allowed a Poll. This could be one of two possibilities, His name could have been mistaken in the Tax Digest as Jas. rather than Jos. The Joseph Martin would have been over age at that point. None of this family appears in the "Cemeteries of Macon County" In 1860 Macon Co., Ga. Census MARTIN, Ann 45 f GA Farmer $400/250 Harrison 19 m GA School Madison 16 m GA School [James Madison Martin ?] Jackson 16 m GA School [Wm. Jackson Martin ?] ********************************* On 9-27-1858 Deed Bk. A pg. 245 - James Martin of Macon Co., Ga. sold to Martin L. Harp of Macon Co. 90 acres of Lot No. 224/2nd Dist. "All that part of that lies East of a large Branch that runs through said Lot containing 90 acres. ********************************************* In 1870 Macon Co., Ga. Census MARTIN, John H. 29 m/w GA Farmer $200/200 Martha wife 28 f/w Charlie son 2 m/w ROBERSON, Nancy 11 f/s Home **************************** The above John H. Martin could possibly be the Harrison that appeared in the 1860 census ????? Hope some of this helps. ----- Original Message ----- From: <Lilredgma@aol.com> To: <GAMACON-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, September 05, 2002 7:13 AM Subject: [GAMACON] MARTIN in 1850 > Can ANYONE tell me ANYTHING about these MARTIN families in the 1850 census? > > Joseph Martin 71 VA p129 > Joseph Jr. 27 GA > John N. 10 GA > James M. 9 GA > William J. 7 GA > Mary 70 VA > Ann 36 GA > > William Martin 34 GA (William Jasper Martin Sr) p134 > Elizabeth 27 GA (nee Rollin) > James 7 GA (James (John?)
