I'm trying to determine if my ancestor, Edwin Jasper Brooks and family moved from Sumter County or if they were part of the "Cutoff" Community that was made part of Macon County in 1870.They lived in Sumter County in the 1860 census and in 1880 were in Macon County. Also, where is the "Big Oaks?" I know near Montezuma, but which road. According to "THe History of Macon County" this is where Edward and Rachel Law Brooks lived, my gg-grandparents.
