Gilmore, Ex-sheriff of this county, died at the home of his son-in-law, Mr. H. J. Winn, in Atlanta, Wednesday morning and was brought here Thursday and laid to rest in the Family Burial Ground at Melton Cemetery. > Mr. Gilmore was a grand, noble old man. He lived a long and useful life, and his death causes sorrow in thousands of hearts. He was a typical Southern gentlemen of the old school, and was loved and honored by all who knew him. > In 1880, he was elected Sheriff of Macon County, and he held the office 14 years. His official record, like his entire life, is without a blemish, and Macon County never had a better official than he made. > For the past three years he and his wife have made their home with their daughter, Mrs. H.
