The Travelers Rest Cemetery has been a great mystery for so long. I have tried so many times to go through this cemetery, thinking that possibly I can make it this time. A number of years ago I approached the Macon County Board of Commissioners about cleaning up this situation but at that time they had no resources, I was told. It is such a delicate treasure, it really should be done by someone who really cares about the history it holds. We were very FORTUNATE to have been given this list of burials to be printed in "Cemeteries of Macon County" by Mrs. Janet Williams who with a committee, surveyed the cemetery about 20 years prior, when it could be.
