>From The Democrat, McKinney, Collin County, Texas Thursday, Nov. 26, 1896 J. C. Saunders, the new treasurer, was born in Macon County, Georgia, in 1853 and came to Texas in 1878. He was educated in the common shollos of his state and chose pedagogy as his profession. He has taught varioius schools in the county sincefirst coming to the state and was always eminently successful in advancing his pupils and in giving general satisfaction to patrens. He was twice elected justice of the peace of precinct No. 8 and made his home in Blue Ridge while holding office. Receiving the democratic nomination for treasurer in the primary last June he was victorious with the rest of his ticket in the county at the polls, receiving a majority of 2746 over his opponent.
