I have been searching the "Territorial Papers" but because I live in the in the northeast, have had no luck. I do know one of the areas I am searching is the Muscogee area. James was an interperter with Benjamin Hawkins, for whom Fort Hawkins was named. Fort Hawkins is now Macon, Ga. I am also relaated to the Deans who are also found buried in Muscogee area. Richard Dean, father of Micajah Dean, father of Mary Annd Dean who married Wm Henry Rousseau (b. 9 Mar 1818 "in or near Macon". When I saw you had a book of the Oglethorpe area, I wanted to know if there were any Durousseaux, Rousseau, Duriso, (and any other spellings or mispellings of the name),Micajah Dean, Parents of Richard Dean, Clements (believe Wm Henrys father married Mary Clements, who after his death, married Samuel Barber. The father of Wm Henry Rousseau (possibley John) "was lost at sea" when Wm was about 12 or 13. All this is passed down thru the family. Until I found James, I didn't know the Rousseau/Durousseaux family had been in Ga. that early. So, I wanted to check the book you mentioned for any info on the above. Does the contents go back very far? Are there any of the names that I have listed, show up? Thank you so much for your kind reply to my many requests for information.Elizabeth Rousseau Godfrey
