    1. [GAMACON] Re: Rev. Elias Jordan Death Notice
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Jd.2ADE/2084.1 Message Board Post: Ms. Campbell, Thank you VERY much for posting this obit. Rev. Elias Jordan was my ggggrandfather! I found the Traveler's Rest Methodist Church a couple of years ago; unfortunately, the graveyard was so overgrown with weeds I could not navigate it to find his grave. Last week, a look-up vol. discovered the name of Elias' wife in the book: METHODIST PREACHERS IN GEORGIA 1783 - 1900 - SUPPLEMENT She was Lavenia Edwards Jordan Johnson (b. 4/9/1798 in Washington Co., Ga; d. Dooly Co., Ga. 5/2/1878. Elias and Lavenia had the following children: Rev.William Parks Jordan, Rev.Miles Clark Jordan (both of Dooly co.), Russell V. Jordan, M.D., and Augusta Ann Jordan (my gggrandmother) who married Rev. John S. West. If anyone else is researching this family, I would be happy to share more details.

    1. [GAMACON] Traveler's Rest Churches
    2. Roy C. Leggitt
    3. I just recently became aware that there was both a Traveler's Rest Baptist and a Methodist church. My 2great grandfather Matthew H. Leggitt was an elder at one of them. I had assumed it to have been the Baptist since it was in the south. Matthew's wife Elizabeth was also a member of the church. Does anyone have a copy of the History of Macon County that could check it for me? Matthew is identified correctly in several references but misidentified as Nathan in a few places. I would certainly appreciate the effort. Roy and Darlene Leggitt, full-time RVers spending a couple weeks at Carolina Landing, SC.
