    3. The Macon County Citizen - Oglethorpe, Ga. March 16, 1928 FUNERAL SERVICES FOR GREEN MASSEY - Mr. Green Massey was born in Muscogee Co., Ga. near Columbus, March 6, 1843 and died March 8, 1928 at Miona Springs, near Oglethorpe, Ga. where he had lived for the last 30 years. He was married to Miss Joanna Hill Jan. 4, 1866 to which three sons and four daughters were born, all of whom are living except his oldest son, John Massey, who preceded him. Those surviving him are: James Massey of Miona Springs, near Oglethorpe, Ga., Harvard Massey of Seville, Ga., Mrs. Lula Bayars of Hartsfield, Ga., Mrs. Ada Jackson of Montezuma, Ga., Mrs. Ida Raburn of Butler, Ga., Mrs. Susie Raburn of Baconton, Ga. Mrs. Massey, mother of these children died Jan 3, 1891 after which Mr. Massey married, Miss Georgia Parten who survives him, on April 16, 1891. To this union there were no children. As will be testified by all who knew himn, Mr. Massey was a good citizen. He loved his home and sought to make it a place of attraction for his children. He was a member of the Free Will Baptist Church and lived up to its doctrines as a christian, he was also one of our old soldiers who are so rapidly passing away. His remains were placed at Pine Level Cemetary near Oglethorpe, Ga. [Note: Green Massey - Co. F. 27 Regt. Ga. Inf. CSA - Born March 6, 1843 - Died March 8, 1928 is buried at Pine Level Cemetery beside his wife, Joanah, wife of Green Massey -Nov. 1, 1841 - Jan. 3, 1891] Also, next to Joanah is one unmarked adult grave, probably his 2nd wife, Georgia [Parten] Massey See her OBIT She died 1-25-1934 at 92 years of age] Post Reply | Mark Unread | Report Abuse
