Macon County Citizen - Oglethorpe, Ga. June 19, 1931 FUNERAL SERVICES FOR MR. J. L. HANKINSON - Funeral services for Mr. J. L. Hankinson, who died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. W. S. Hines, Tuesday morning, June 9, 1931 were held at Pine Level Church Wednesday morning, conducted by Rev. W. H. Emmerson. Pallbearers - not copied He had been in ill health for some time, becoming serious some three weeks ago. He was 73 years of age and was a resident of this county all his life and was one of the most highly respected citizens. Besides his widow, he leaves six children four sons and two daughters, J. C. Hankinson, H. D. Hankinson, and J. B. Hankinson of Taylor County; Mrs. W. S. Hines, Mrs. Q. C. Melton and R. D. Hankinson of this county; 16 grandchildren, one brother, S. H. Hankinson of Ellenton, Ga.; one sister, Mrs. Laura Barfield of Cordele, Ga. and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his death. [Note:J. L. Hankinson - Born 1858 - Died 6-9-1931 is buried in Pine Level Cemetery probably beside his wife, Mrs. Susie Barfield Hankinson [born 1-4-1867 - died 4-3-1950 at 83 years of age. There is no marker for her in Pine Level but her OBIT says she is buried there., their daughter, Norma Hankinson Melton b. 3-1-1898 - d. 9-24-1946 also buried at Pine Level OBIT]
