Sybil shares information she found about the Lanier Methodist church which is located south of Reynolds, but actually in Macon County today. This made me curious to know if any of you might know more about these ministers....especially Wyatt Brooks who served several years and is in our 1860 Taylor Co Census. They're buried in the Butler Baptist Cemetery. (I think this just happened to be the cemetery next to where the Baptist Church relocated, and was once the Butler City Cemetery. Please correct me if I'm wrong) Columbus District Lanier The first mention of Lanier in the Minutes of the Methodist Church is in 1850. 1850-Charles W. Hayes 1852-John M. Marshall 1853- Josiah H. Clarke 1854-Wyatt Brooks in 1855, Lanier drops off the list and Butler is listed for the first time Butler 1855-Wyatt Brooks 1856- Smith Davenport Flint River Mission is listed under Butler with Wyatt Brooks as the pastor Butler 1857-John M. Marshall, Edmund W. Reynolds, sup'y Flint River Colored Mission-Wyatt Brooks

In 1857 many colored missions were listed. In the Columbus District, Cusseta, Buena Vista, Talbot Circuit, Upson, and Hamilton list colored missions. Every year, there were memoirs (obits) of the ministers who had died that year. The books are not indexed, so you just about have to know when a minister died to find him. This applies to all of the conferences (states). 1878. "Two new churches have been built in Butler Circuit, one at Butler, costing two thousand dollars, and one at Carsonville costing about one thousand dollars, one parsonage at Geneva costing seven thousand dollars." ===== Brooks, Mrs. Margaret 07 Mar 1807-19 Aug 1888 (wife of Rev.
