Since Edward Brooks is buried in the Ideal City Cemetery, there could possibility that they are connected. In the older part I found some Brooks' graves..... Miss Sallie M. Brooks, Aug. 2, 1847 - March 19, 1904; Rev. B. C. M. Brooks, B. C. Brooks, John T. Brooks, and Mrs. Caroline S. Brooks, wife of B. C. M. Brooks. I thought this might br one of the Travelers Rest cemeteries found in the cemetery index on this site, but did not find any of the above names. Other names were readable, I was looking for Brooks and McCartys. Can any one help with the name of this cemetery and did these Brooks have a connection with either of the Edward Brooks that were in Macon County in the mid to late 1800s? Thanks, Martha

    2. Good to hear from you and you remember me!! My biggest snag in my geneaolgy right is the CHILDS' in Macon CO. You probably know where the cemetery is. 3. Thank you so much ladies. I appreciate the information about the funeral homes in Reynolds, Butler and Oglethorpe. I will write all three to see what I can learn. One of their daughters is buried in the same cemetery. She died in Butler Ga - Elvira Mott - so maybe the one in Butler is the one who handled the funerals. Elvira died in 1899. Thanks Harriett Fuquay

    2. Harriett, Did you get a reply to your below request? The Pleasant Grove Methodist Church is no longer there. Pleasant Grove Baptist Church is across the road from the cemetery where William and Elizabeth are buried. There is a cemetery behind that Church. It's a 'country' church and probably no one there during the week. I do not know anything about funeral homes in Macon CO back then. Perhaps you could write Watson-Matthews Funeral Home, Montezuma, GA to ask them about it? That is the funeral home that serves Oglethorpe, Idea and surrounding area.
