    3. I'm still trying to help the person looking for the Robert Taylor cotton plantation. Just had the tip that this might be connected to Taylor Mills.... Does anyone know more about this and the Taylor Mills Road or Taylor Road? 1850-1870 grandfather's name was Robert Taylor and he lived in the outlying area of Ft. Valley. The Taylor family had a cotton plantation and also had a family run store in the area. There is still a "Taylor" road on the old border of their land. Virginia Crilley

    3. If anyone has access to a map for this time period, I'd also love to have it to put on-line on the Taylor County site.... From: "Hahn, Diane" <Diane_Hahn@tesseract.com> Subject: historical map of Georgia question. Date: Wed, 20 Mar 2002 08:43:17 -0800 I'm not sure if this is the right place to make this inquiry, but the University of Georgia, library of Maps department recommended that I contact you. I have an inquiry about an historical map of Georgia from sometime in the 1850 - 1870 time period. I am trying to locate a map that shows Ft. Valley and surrounding areas in Taylor county. I believe it was only on the maps for a brief period of time, perhaps only a year or two, but I would like to pin point those specific years so that I might be able to locate any such maps. I am trying to locate this map for a friend, whose family lived in that area at the time and for whom the county was named. I know that his grandfather's name was Robert Taylor and he lived in the outlying area of Ft. Valley. The Taylor family had a cotton plantation and also had a family run store in the area. There is still a "Taylor" road on the old border of their land. I'm not sure if any of this info is helpful or not. I can be reached either via email, or at (716) 256-0764. Any information you can provide would be most helpful. If you need any additional information from me, please let me know. Or if you know of other contacts or web-sites that might be helpful. Also, can you recommend any places that may sell historical maps of Georgia ? Thank you. Diane Hahn Virginia Crilley

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Jd.2ADE/3240.3401.3467.1 Message Board Post: Greetings Mr. Phinazee Cunningham, According to some research and largely oral traditions within my family, the Phinazee family is one that is distinct from the Phinizy clan. We believe that the first American Phinizy named Ferdinand emmigrated from Parma, Italy in 1778. He settled in the Augusta, GA area and fought with the French for the colonies in the Revolutionary War. More info is available at my cousin's website: http://www.phinizy.net Several years ago, I skimmed through a geneological study of the Phinazee family. I cannot recall too many details. This book was in The University of Georgia archives of the main library if you're interested in reading this as well. Although this is speculative, it is likely that Phinizy is a variant of the Italian name: "Finizi", and Phinazee is a variant of the Irish name: "Finnessey". Regards, William Wright Phinizy III

Their children were Edward Louis, Sarah Elenor (Nell), Mary Wyatt, Mary Louise, John Ewing Sr, and Forman Bosclair. All were born in Gordon Co., Ga. Mary Arrington died Oct.7,1890 in Gordon Co. John Newton married Cathrine Cleghorn Scoville on Dec.8,1897 in Macon Co. Ga. It doesn't mention any children of hers. A nice lady named Donna gave me the information on the Kiker side but since I'm new at searching and using a computer I seem to hit a brick wall on the McCrory side. I was not raised around the McCrory side of my family and anyone who knew about them has died and my oldest daughter wanted me to see if I could find out anything. I always wanted to but after Sept.11 she really pushed me. Any other information or any suggestions will be appreciated.
