In the 1930 Census, he was living in Bradenton, FL and is listed as being 40 yrs old, and as first being married when he was 18 yrs old, and that his wife -- my grandmother, Elnora Wells, (Born 3/7/05 in Savannah(?) GA and died 11/1970 in Bradenton FL), was listed as first married at the age of 14 yrs old. Ellis is 15 yrs older than my grandmother, so I am now trying to determine if he had been married before. There is no indication of his remarriage or divorce in the 1930 Census. To add to the confusion, both of my grandparents and their parents have their birthplace listed as being Florida. I can't seem to locate Ellis in the 1920 Census, and I'm thinking that he might have been in the Service during the 1910 Census. I've also seem to have hit a dead end be! > cause I think Macon/Bibb County Vital Statistics in Georgia only have birth records going as far back as 1891. I don't know of any other sources that would give any information about his parents. And finally, as far as we know, it seems that he had no other siblilngs or children. At that time my great grandfather John W. Draughon was known to have a Creek indian spouse called only by the name of Wolf and I have a picture of her. It was at that time he was to have fathered 3 sons who were born in Logan Co. Kentucky. There were 3 other children and Wolf who died reason unknown. After that event, John moved the boys from tennesee into Mo. there he remarried and had 6 more children. I asked the only living relative about the picture and she verified its authentisity. The names of the 3 boys are John W. , Ray and Joe Draughon. It was the move from tennessee the the Sir name spelling was changed to Draughn. John W. Draughn is my grandfather. Is there a way to trace Wolf?????? If there is please let me know... Thanks in advance...I am proud of my family history and need to learn more about it to teach my children. John M. Bludworth Eufaula Times and New Tuesday Aug 14, 1883 Taken from Microfilm the Date on the newspaper said July 14, 1883 the July was struck through and Aug. penned in. Transcribed by Margie Glover Daniels Mr. John M. Bludworth died, at his home on Eufaula street at 11:00, Wednesday forenoon, aged 75 years. Mr. Bludworth had been confined to his room almost continuously for several months and his death has been expected all the while. With perhaps one or two exceptions he was Eufaula's oldest resident having lived here continuously upwards of 45 years. His wife and two daughters survive him. John M. Bludworth was born in New Hanover county, N. C. Sept. 12, 1808, consequently was nearly 75 years old at the time of his death. In 1818 he removed to Jasper county, Ga. and resided near Monticello, where he was for a time engaged in gold mining. He afterwards went to Columbus, Ga., and lived there in 1833 34, removing to Eufaula in 1835. Eufaula was then known as Irwinton, and the year of Mr. Bludworth's removal to this place he was engaged in the Indian war. Afterwards he sold goods for J. G. L. Margin and then for Hoole and Woods. Mr. Bludworth married Mr. Woods daughter, Miss Harriet W. Woods and consequently was a brother-in-law to Wm. H. Woods, of New York, Sam and Charles Woods of Savannah and R. J. Woods of Eufaula. He was also brother-in-law to Hon. John M. McKleroy, Capt. John W. Tullis and Mrs. Julia Sylvester, of Eufaula. Mr. Bludworth amassed a handsome property before the war, a large portion of it being in slaves. He saved enough, however, to live out his life in comfort, and for several years has been retired from business altogether. Mr. Bludworth was of a genial sociable temperament and had a great many friends in this city and section who have watched this progress of his illness with sincere regret. Now that he is gone, there are many who will pause and thing regretfully of the death of the pleasant old gentleman so well known to all. --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.
