Sept. 3, 1926 PROMINENT CITIZEN DIES OF INJURIES - Mr. Tolbert E. Fowler, of Ideal, Instantly Killed By Gin. Mr. T. E. Fowler, of Ideal, one of the most prominent, respected and loved men of this section of Georgia, was instantly killed in his gin in Ideal, Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock. The shocking news of the heart breaking tragedy was received here early Saturday afternoon and caused universal sorrow here and throughout this section. It appears the machinery needed some slight repair which Mr. Fowler attempted to correct, when he was jerked into the saws, horribly mangling the unfortunate man about the head and body. Death was practically instantaneous. Mr. Fowler was a leading citizen of his community, kind lovable and charitable. He was the friend of everybody and loved by all classes. He stood for all that was good and was a power in his community. The deceased was a successful farmer and business man, and his home life was perfect. He was forty six years of age and was born and reared in the vicinity, where he spent his useful life and met his tragic death. Mr. Fowler was a consistent member of the Baptist Church, and was always to be found at services. The deceased is survived by relatives throughout the state and by the immediate family, his widow, who was Miss Mamie Payne, and six children: his father, John B. Fowler, Montezuma; four brothers, J. W. Fowler, Montezuma; C. J. Fowler, Perry, Carl Fowler, Thomasville; Ernest Fowler, Montezuma and a sister, Mrs. Elmer I. Matthews, Montezuma. The funeral and interment occurred Sunday afternoon at the Ideal cemetery. Rev. Mr. Helms conducting the services. He was also buried with Masonic honors. The funeral was attended by probably one of the largest concourse of friends ever seen in Macon County. Pallbearers: Messrs. B. H. Hambrick, W. C. Chapman, Jesse Williams, A. M. Parks, C. A. Pye. 1. [GAMACON] Signatures on emails
    2. Margie Daniels
    3. Forgive me for not my post that asked everyone to turn off their signatures. I thought everyone would know what a signature was and how you set them, turn them on and turn them off. Signatures are a part of the email program used and to find out how to use them just click on help while in your email program and then type in the word signature this should bring up all the information you need for signatures. Some programs do not have signatures. A signature is just like it sounds. Just as you sign your signature to the bottom of your email, signatures can be used to add the same information to the bottom of each email that is sent without you having to type the information over and over. Many use their web page address, if they are a county coordinator they may include all the county sites they are the cc for. You can set up many different signatures and select which one you need for the email you are sending. This is ok unless you are sending emails to a county or surname mail list. What happens is if you include all your surnames in your signatures the mail list archives saves the email messages and when you try to research the surname say Smith and you have placed the Smith in your signature, every message you ever wrote will be pulled even though it has no Smith information in the message. The search engine just looks for Smith in the text and then pulls the message for you. So all signatures that has surnames in them should not be sent in email lists to prevent this problem. This is a typical signature for a researcher. My surnames Glover, Evans, Paschal, Fowler, Gray, Frederick, McBride,Vining Which would really hurt my searching for those surnames since I would pull every message I have ever sent even though they have no information on those surnames. That is not the result that you want. So for that reason Rootsweb has always said no signatures on mail lists. The Help menu from your mail program will have all the information you need to set up your signatures. Hope this helps. Margie Ps. 3. Good evening everyone. I wanted to stop in and make an announcement. Macon County Georgia UsGenWeb site will no longer be using Rootsweb/ancestory.com query boards. This will be in several phases Phase one is that we will be using a different query system at Genealogy.com http://genforum.genealogy.com/ga/macon/ This will be until I can set up a system that all the queries can and will be kept on the Macon page. I have requested help from other CC's that do not use RW or Genforum to tell me how they handle their Obits, queries, pensions, bibles, etc. Some of you had experssed that you did not want the mail list linked from the message boards for many reasons one being that they had a limited space for their emails and their messages would bounce. For this reason you will have to join (free) and then click on the box to be notified when there are updates to the messages. I think that it is better to allow you to elect to get the update messages by joining and those that do not want the messages are free to not have their mail boxes filled with unwanted information. As I said this may just be temporary since I plan on keeping all the information on the page as soon as I can get a system set up that will do that. I'm trying to determine if my ancestor, Edwin Jasper Brooks and family moved from Sumter County or if they were part of the "Cutoff" Community that was made part of Macon County in 1870.They lived in Sumter County in the 1860 census and in 1880 were in Macon County. Also, where is the "Big Oaks?" I know near Montezuma, but which road. According to "THe History of Macon County" this is where Edward and Rachel Law Brooks lived, my gg-grandparents. Again, Thanks for your help! Martha
