Gerry, We had contact some time back and exchanged info on the Wheeless family. I am trying to find date of death of Francis Allen Wheeless and where he may be buried. He must have died after April of 1881 as that is the last date of any record I have for him. Thanks. Pjay
Seeking information on the final resting place of FRANCIS ALLEN WHEELESS. The family lived in the Macon County area during the mid/late 1850's. Thank you. Pjay
I am looking for any information on the JUSTICE family living in Macon county ( census of 1850). The name on the index is shown as Morris Justice but it is believed this should is most probably read MOSES, not Morris. He is shown as age 35 with a wife, Elisa, also 35 years of age. They have a son, John, 7 years old, daughters are Elizabeth, Jane, Emily, Elisa and a name that looks like Lucinda. Can anyone shed any more light on this family? Any information would be appreciated. Thank you. Pjay.
To James A Pena [email protected] OK, that's what I was getting at-- they were from NC... A likely place to look for Barnes- and set to look in, would be Elias born 1750's family. I don't think it would be him-because he died 1806 Madison Ky. His son James Tarlton was in the Rev. He was son of Richard born 1723 son of Abraham born 1701 son of Abraham & Sarah McCarty. Richard's son Equillas Rev. Sol., died at Cow Pens. In Wayne the Simon Barnes family is an earlier one. (From Dobbs to Wayne, and Dobbs was once a part of) The family is very plentiful there, and married a lot of my Aycock family. I don't have them all together by a long shot. Just a lot of SCATTERED BARNES. Another bunch- maybe connected to the Wayne ones, because of name similarities.. Thomas Barnes & Dianna Ann Bragg Edwards Barnes & Sara Edward & Sara Pope and my first dates- two sons Dempsey & Capt. Jacob born 1719 Jacob & Juliah Whitley were from Nansemond CO. Va. to Edgecombe where he died 1764 only one son-James, still in Edgecombe had a William still in NC (Wilson Co) Your best place to start would be getting William's Rev. DAR papers...from any DAD member, giving your line. If DAR does not have that, they give the closest they have. Some of the older ones (And you can ask for older ones, rather than recent) give more information. Of course, it is only a starting place to prove from. John shown as son of Barrett on Genforum..I only have born a 1812..no more on him. But if Barrett had 24 children, I am still missing a LOT OF THEM. I have 15 possible, and no proof yet on any. The only other John I found early in that area, and I have gone over lots of records, here, on the internet and at the library- is a John I know about-John Carney born 1802 Jones Co. who died 1872 Taylor So it looks like Barrett's son John is about it... Charles Barfield was on the 1838 Tax List- Ceder Barfield John Hill Whitmill Hill Jr Moses Hill Jesse Barfield Wm. Barfield Redin Barfield Enos Barfield Charles Barfield Sr. Whitmill Hill Sr. Jesse Hill Archibald Hill-my husband's ancestor William Barfield Sr Charles Barfield (Again) Harlee Barfield Enos Barfield Wiley Hill Slaughter Hill (Brother of Arch) John Hill Jr No Barnes then-and they listed these with no property too. So I was not able to really find anything definite, but thought I'd give you a way or two to go! Gerry Josiah Hill Josiah Hill
I don't know to which Slaughter or Arch(ibald) HILL this refers, but for anyone interested: SOURCE: 1859 Superior Court, Taylor Co, GA, p. 370: The State vs. John BAREFIELD Jury finds John BAREFIELD, the prisoner, guilty. C.F. Fickling, Foreman (A.M. BROOKS, Thomas WILSON, C.L. WALKER, John HUSTON, Joseph GENTRY, Joseph F. BOWLAND, Joseph PHILIPS, W.F. TURKS, S.L. BREWER, J.W. SEARCEY, James DANIEL, Jurors) : Slaughter HILL, sworn, says he never bought a horse from John BAREFIELD, has a brother named Arch HILL, knows no other Arch HILL, did not sign the notes that have been in exhibit to John HUDSON, always writes his name and never makes his mark. The notes aforementioned were read to the jury by the prosecution. The State vs. John BAREFIELD, Warren BAREFIELD, Elias BAREFIELD, Jos STUBBS, Indictment for passing counterfeit notes, April Term 1859, with consent of the court & Solicitor General, it is ordered by the court that a note pro ____ be entered in the above stated case as to Warren BAREFIELD and Elias BAREFIELD and that this order be on the minutes of! the court. My GGF Elias Barnes was born in Georgia in 1834 but his mother Allis Waterwood ??? and FAther William BArnes who died in the Civil War at Virginia were both from North Carolina but I 'm not sure where in NC yet. I belive the John Barfield I spoke of earlier is also in the Macon County 1840 federal census HH#179 so I was'nt able to connect him to Charles Barfield family who was previously traced to Barrett and Jesse Barfield and would have solved my puzzle but as of yet I'm only suspicious. Charles moved to New Boston, Texas and died there in 1892. My Elias Barnes move to New Boston Texas about the same time but he and his wive Ava Barfield stopped at Tishomingo, MIssissippi in the 1870 Census and Quachita Parish Louisiana in the 1880 Federal CEnsus. Can anyone identify the Jim and John Murphy listed on page 362 in "THe History of Macon County, Georgia" by Hays? There is also a John Murphy, age 55, in the 1860 census of Macon County in the 1070 District, wife Elizabeth, age 50, daughters Martha, age 17, and Sarah, age 8. Could Elizabeth possibly have been a Coogle before marrying and the Murphy was her second marriage? I am trying to find a connection as to why Alonzo Coogle was living in the household in the 1860 census, age 13. Any help would be appreciated. Martha
I am very interested in the Obadiah Parrot family who resided in Macon Co GA from roughly 1834 through perhaps 1846 or so before going over to Baker Co GA by 1850. Obadiah B. Parrot, born c 1792 in Green Co GA (according to the 1850 Baker Co GA census) married Winny _____ born c 1799 in Johnson Co NC. In 1850 their children were Caroline (19)b. Coweta Co GA Permelia (16)b. Macon Co GA Thomas (14) " " WINNY (11) " " Wilmoth (6) " " Matilda (4) " " I believe that the daughter Winny Parrot may have later married my ancestor Elijah ("Bert"; Nehemiah/ Jeremiah...twin of Elisha "Mood"/"Moody") Richardson between 1860-1864. There were 2 Richardson children, Lula Percilla an Oliver Perry. Their mother died before 1870. We know from an old bible that their mother's name was "Winny Elva". Can anyone connect the Parrots to the Richardsons?

http://familysearch.org/ Just in case some of you did not get this message. The LDS has the whole 1880 census online. I will place the link on the web pages. Good luck in your research. I will be out of town and not checking email from 11/22 until 12/02. Wishing everyone a wonderful Thanksgiving and my prayers and blessings to each of you and your families. We truly have a lot to be thankful for to be living here in the land of the brave and the free. I continue to pray for our country and for Israel. A special thank you to all of you that had ancestors like mine that fought in the AR for independence of our country. Many that come to our country today take all of this for granted and have no clue that our ancestors fought and died for the rights we have today. I don't think their is even a memorial for those that fought in the AR in Washington like the other wars if so I cannot recall it and I have been to DC so many times I have lost count. Today I had the opportunity to look at "The Macon County Citizen" published in Oglethorpe, Ga. in 1922, for the obit of Rebecca Windham , mother of Emma Windham Youngblood. Sorry, I did not find any mention. I read all of the neighborhood news articles hoping for something. The name Windham is very prominent in adjoining Taylor County. Perhaps you will be able to find something there. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mae Duncan" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, November 05, 2002 5:09 PM Subject: [GAMACON] Obit Lookup > Hi, > Could someone that lives in Macon County please do an obit lookup for > Rebecca Windham ( Windun is how they spelt it on Ancestry.com) > She died Sept.20,1922.
