Here is a long shot... I am trying to connect several CLAYTON families that came to Lowndes County about 1837 from the Barnwell District of S.C. Anyone with Lowndes County Claytons out there willing to compare notes? Also connected to his family are members of the BROOKE family. Susannah, wife of Isham H. Clayton, one of the families I am looking for, was the widow of Thomas BROOKE who died 1818 in Edgefield Dist. S.C. she had three daughters by Thomas BROOKE. the family naming pattern is that the daughters usually name a son Thomas Brooke after her father. Anyone out ther have a Thomas Brooke _______ in the family? The name is often carried down for several generations. I am especially looking for clues to the marriage of a missing daughter named ALMENIA BROOKE .... if she had a son he is likely to be named for her father. Hope to hear from some of Almenia's descendants...but I have no clue to her marriage yet. I will gladly share the BROOKE family info as well as info on her mother Susannah Prior who was married to Samuel Jeter, Thomas Brooke and Isham H. Clayton. Candy candyotte@aol.com
