Born June 27, 1912, in Valdosta, Ga., she was 88 years old. A resident of Little Rock, Ark. for 50 years, Thelma, valedictorian of her high school class and graduate of Illinois College, worked for the Arkansas Education Association from 1950 to 1986. She coordinated Future Teachers of America workshops and conventions. Thelma volunteered through her church and service organizations such as PTA, ABWA, Girl Scouts, Pilot Club, AAUW, Pulaski County Democratic Women, AFS and the clown ministry of Pulaski Heights Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed classes at the Shepherd Center, white-water canoeing and travel adventures in Europe and the United States. Finch is survived by her three daughters, Beverly Finch Ballard of Davis, Lynn Finch of Syracuse, N.Y. and Mary-Boyd Finch Boudreau of Gaithersburg, Md.; her brother Dwight Beverly Eames II of Littleton, Colo.; her six grandchildren, Barth Ballard, Nathan Finch Ballard, Eames Day Ballard, Zoe Kinney, Simone Boudreau and Julia Boudreau; one great-granddaughter, Mackenna Mae Ballard; and two sons-in-law, Clay Ballard and Dave Boudreau. She was preceded in death by her husband, Boyd A. Finch, her brother "Cotton" Eames, and her parents, Bessie Hill and Dwight Beverly Eames. Memorial gifts may be made to the Thelma Finch Scholarship Trust Fund for Sierra Health Care nurses aides who wish to become nurses. The trust fund address is Wells Fargo Bank, 340 F.
