    3. http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/ga/brooks.htm Thank you very much for this militia Record. These sorts of records are very rare. Do you have an estimate of the year that this was? I have it loaded under Civil War....but after looking at the date of the formation of the counties, I think this is much earlier. I'd like to get this correct, so if you can give a date, I'll add it. Thanks. Virginia

We have moved the the GA Family Group Sheet Project to a new location & it now will be easier for you to get your group sheets online. New URL: http://www.rootsweb.com/~garichmo/groupindx.html The new URL still has all the "old" features, but it has expanded to take more than text files. Please BOOKMARK this, & pass the word along--especially to your Surname Lists! Here are the latest uploads to our GA Family Group Sheets Project. I hope there will be some new connections! If so, I have a place for you to post your "Success Story": http://www.rootsweb.com/~garichmo/bios/connect.html I lost some during the "move", so if you've posted already, & it's gone, please do so again. Lucretia Kirkland was half-sister to my great great grandfather, William Franklin Kirkland. I hope I get this right :-) Lucretia Kirkland's father was Joshua Kirkland (b. between 1797-1803 Bulloch Co., Ga; d. 1880 Coffee Co., Ga) and Joshua's first wife Harriet Lee (d. 6-29-1869 Bulloch Co., Ga) To date I have found 5 children for Joshua and Harriet Lee Kirkland: 1-Lucretia, born March 1825 Bulloch Co., Ga ; married Isham Lewis on 9-23-1847 Bulloch Co., Ga; had 4 children. 2-James, born 5-19-1826 Bulloch Co., Ga. 3-Mitchell, born 12-10-1827 Bulloch Co., Ga; married Martha A Parker 1847 Liberty Co., Ga.; had 7 children; burial Antioch Cemetery, Alachua Co., Fl. 4-Lucinda, born 7-15-1830 Bulloch Co., Ga; died 11-11-1905; Married John Olliff 12-6-1846 Bulloch Co., Ga; had 15 children. 5-Elizabeth, born 8-13-1831 Bulloch CO., Ga; married Seaborn Proctor on 12-14-1848 Bulloch CO., Ga; I show 13 children for this couple. Joshua Kirkland later married Sarah Fender (daughter of David Fender and Mary Heirs). Sarah was born 1812 Barnwell Dist., SC and died 1900 Coffee Co., Ga. Joshua and Sarah were married in Madison CO., Fl. and had 8 children (including my gr gr grandfather William Franklin Kirkland). Joshua and Sarah had a daughter named Lucretia also but she wasn't born until 1853. The information I have on Joshua and his first wife Harriet Lee came to me from two other Kirkland researchers who descend from children born to Joshua and wife Harriet as well as bits of information I found through Judge Huxford's POWG series. I have never found any further information on Isham Lewis. Was William Richard Lewis married to Elizabeth Rushing? This is the information I have; that they were married on 6-17-1864 but I don't have any children for them. DO you have William Richard Lewis as being born in 1848? Also, the James Lewis you both mention; is this James Madison Lewis, born 1849? I have this one married to Sarah Nessmith on 4-26-1865. Again, have no children for this man. Another question please. You said that Lucretia Kirkland was the second wife of Isham Lewis. My dates must be incorrect because I have Lucreita and Isham being married on 9-23-1847 Bulloch Co., Ga. But I have a daughter named Ann Lewis as being born in 1844. Do I have her with the wrong mother??? I have the following children with Isham and wife Lucretia: 1-Ann, born 1844; no further info. 2-William Richard Lewis, info is above. 3-James Madison Lewis, info is above. 4-Virginia Babe Lewis, born 1862; no further info. Does this match the information you have? If not, would you please share more information with me? I'm not sure if Virginia actually 'sits' in this family because of the time of her birth.....there would be 13 years between the time of James Madison's birth and Virginia's birth. I'm not sure if this helps or complicates the situation :-) Oh, and one important question.....are some of these folks buried at Cat Creek Cemetery??? Regards, Nancy
