    3. In all our little gedcom files, Calvin is listed as the son of Thomas G. Gallway and Sarah Galloway. The census reports also list her as Sallie. Calvin's death certificate lists her as "Tallie" - with excellent handwriting for once. Informant is Wilburn Galloway. There is a Cherokee name which can be written in english as both Sallie and Tallie - Cherokee has some very interesting consonants. I checked this out with a Cherokee e-friend who speaks the language because my mouth has never been able to successfully create those sounds. Other info from the death certificate: B. 22APR1857 D. 27JAN1943 12:48 of Cerebral hemmorhage in Rosman his wife was Mary Jane and he was widowed at the time of his death Buried 28JAN1943 in Cathey's Creek Cemetery by Wilburn Galloway. And if you haven't heard the tale, it had been raining like crazy, and they couldn't get the wagon up to Folly Gap to bury him there. He is apparently in a grave marked only with a fieldstone. At least I don't find him listed in Monteith's Cemetery Survey. They may have placed a marker for him since the survey was done. -- Linda Hoxit Raxter lraxter@citcom.net See Indexed Western North Carolina Cemetery Surveys http://www.geocities.com/~alextreehouse related to at least half the county - at least once ; )
