    3. When researching John & William Galloway we definately have to look into the family of John's son Thomas G & William's Dtr Sarah "Sallie" M. Info I have: Thomas was born about 1820 and died between 1860 & 1870 Sarah was born Feb1833 and died after 1900 They were married 20FEB1853 Henderson Co, NC Both are buried at Folly Gap cemetery with Thomas' Parents John & Kizza The following children have been attributed to their household: Dorcas Galloway b ca 1854 Sarah Jane Galloway b 18AUG1855 d 19JUN1886 Transylvania Co Calvin L. Galloway b. 22APR1857 d. 27JAN1943 and buried at Cathey's Creek because It had been raining kind of like around here recently and the road to Folly Gap cemetery was impassable. Caroline Galloway b 1859 Mary M. Galloway b. 1860, married a RYKARD and was buried at Macedonia (unmarked) Julia Ann Galloway b ca 1864 Harvey Keith Galloway b. 08NOV1868 Trans Co, d. 15MAY1939 Easley, Pickens Co, SC (actually I have birth dates for Harvey ranging from 1866-1868 - I thought I had a long labor) Here come the problems: Why did Thomas wait until he was 33 years old to get married? Just seems a long time to wait in the days before pre-marital sex was openly practised. In 1880 Transylvania County Census Sarah is living with the three youngest children. Everyone in the household is listed as being born in NC, and their mother being born in NC. Sarah, Mary, & Julia all list their Father as being born in NC. Harvey's Father was born in SC. In 1900 Sarah reports only having THREE children, not the 7 listed in the household, and that all three children are still living. Based on this information it would appear that Sarah Jane, Harvey, and two other children in this household weren't their kids. So, where did they come from? Was this a second drop off from the alien spacecraft? For about 140 years we've been duped by a conspiracy to hide the truth. It's time to set the record straight. It can't be worse than some of the other stories I have heard. I'm thinking that the probate records for Thomas may be helpful. Any guess as to where/when he died? NC or SC? This family living on the state line really causes research problems. -- Linda Hoxit Raxter lraxter@citcom.net See Indexed Western North Carolina Cemetery Surveys http://www.geocities.com/~alextreehouse related to at least half the county - at least once ; )
