Elizabeth Barton has been so helpful to me in my research I hate to zap some of her findings but.... She once came to the conclusion that 2 of William Galloway's Sons (the first NC/SC problem William born about 1764), John C & James, were among the first graduating class at Carson College. Judy Ballard had sent me a note once suggesting a college education didn't match the literacy level of their children. Well a simple check of the college web site revealed: "Local citizens invested their own labor and money to found this college. On December 5, 1851, Mossy Creek Baptist Seminary was chartered to offer educational opportunities to the Baptists of this region." 1851 is pretty late for the brothers to go to college. Elizabeth gets her information from somewhere, and John C. , a Baptist minister, did also have sons named John & James so maybe they were the college grads. Of course John & James are not exactly uncommon names in the Galloway, or any other family, and KY is close to Carson Newmann College in TN as well.
