Continuing to poke around Upper Toxaway Cemetery and I found the original markers for Thomas H & wife - they were moved to the end of the row just like there were another 2 graves there. Anyway, they are still quite legible and the original transcription was correct except for the minor issue of spelling out the abbreviation. Thos. H. Galloway Died Dec 18 1874 aged 59 yrs & 4 das I hope to have the whole cemetery posted March 8 In the meantime, there a bunches and bunches of graves that only have a fieldstone - and they pretty much look like they are primarily Galloway related. If anyone has any hints as to who, I would love to know. And where did Thomas H. & William J. build their massive two family house? I know it is nearby. Was it on the actual site of the new church, or closer to the older upper cemetery or what? Judy Ballard wrote: > I have the same dates as you. The dates are from the Transylvania Co. > Cemeteries.
