I may have found the answer to my question. This is from a small article on the history of the Whitmire family in the Transylvania Co. Heritage Book Christopher Columbus Whitmire, Sr. (1774-1842) married Betty Mauldin and had 2 children. Then married her widowed sister Mouldin Lyon, they had 10 children. Third wife was Elizabeth Galloway who had 9 children. He had 21 children! (guess he couldn't read <G>) Christopher Columbus, Jr. First wife, Jane Galloway, 6 children. 2nd wife, Martha Ann Driman, no children. Does anyone have anything different or does this sound right?
