    1. [GALLOWAY-L] William Frazier Galloway
    2. Sherry Osburn
    3. Hello, I am looking for information on the families of William Frazier Galloway, the son of John & Kizzia Galloway of (now) Transylvania County, North Carolina. William Frazier was born 2 Jul 1802 in (then) Henderson Co. NC and married 23 Aug 1824 Lavisa McClure b. 7 Oct 1797 d. 20 Oct 1878. William died 29 Oct 1883 (these dates came from my Grandfather's Bible), both are buried in the Galloway Cemetery in Fannin County, GA. William and Lavisa are in Rabun County for the 1830 census, in Habersham County for the 1840; Gilmer County for the 1850 and in Fannin County for the 1860/70/80. The number of their children depends on which article that you read, (there are two in the Facet's of Fannin - neither mention my great-grand father). The 1840 Gilmer County census (which is online at the url for Gilmer in my signature) lists 3 sons in the 10-15 range and 1 under 5. The one under 5 is my great grandfather, William McDaniel Galloway, b. 1839, the others are Harbert Harvey Galloway & Asbury Galloway and ??? either Henry or Mitchell. The 1830 census only lists the 3 older sons, so it's possible that Henry & Mitchell are the same person. Harbert Harvey Galloway married Mary Malinda Wikle and had these children: William Henry; Martha Caroline; Lavisa Ann; John DeKalb; Nancy Josephine; Jesse Winfield; Elizabeth; James Lycurgus and George Washington. William McDaniel Galloway married Rhoda Ann McCay, daughter of Daniel S. and Rhoda Jane Hill McCay, their children are: Nancy Kizzia; Patrick Henry; Willson Monja; John Henderson; Robert Newton; Richard Ferlando; Francis Olando; Harbert Thomas (Harvey); James Madison; and Enos M. William Frazier and Lavisa made their home with William McDaniel & Rhoda from sometime after the 1860 census until their deaths. After the death of his father, William moved his family to Bartow County, Georgia where they lived until their deaths, both are buried in the Old Cassville Cemetery. His children married and scattered to nearby counties, Polk, Floyd, with John finally settling in Alabama and Francis (Doc) finally settling in Tennessee. My line is thru James M. and Lizzie Belle Cook Galloway. More of my Galloway information can be found at the first url in my signature. 3. Dr. Johnson, I would be most grateful for the information mentioned below. I am a descendent of Alexander Galloway Sr., William Galloway, Rev. John Colby Galloway down through my father, Ivory Mayfield Galloway. My Alexander was said to have been from Ireland, with most of his children born in VA. 3. Hi, you have gone to the right place to search for your Galloway family. I was a Galloway before marrying and have also been searching for my ancestors. Through these forums and mail lists I have been able to get a lot of help. My line goes from Ivory Mayfield Galloway (my father) through Alexander Galloway Sr. from Ireland. If you have any names, dates, places etc., send me an e-mail with them and I'll help you if any of my names correspond with yours. I have had many wonderful people send me information and I'll be glad to do the same. 3. I too am a descendent of Alexander Galloway. I was told he came from Ireland, but I have heard that a lot of Galloways from Scotland, went to Ireland and immigrated from there later. I would appreciate the Galloway surnames from Fife Scotland also. This may tie into my line. Thanks ever so much, Louise Galloway Reid e-mail: loureid@mindspring.com ----- Original Message ----- From: <margrob@webtv.net> To: <GALLOWAY-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, March 04, 2000 4:24 PM Subject: Re: [GALLOWAY] Galloway surnames from Fife Scotland. > If it isn't too much trouble, I would appreciate having the material.
