Where did you find any Elbert Co Records? Many people left GA for AL about the same time that yous went to Talladaga AL as our government took land away from the Indians. Land was "farmed out' quickly because of poor farming practices. AL has good land records. Always remember that GA has several decades of missing census records during this time period. Also depending on where your family lived in Elbert Co GA they all may be blowing bubbles in all that water that was backed up because of those dams that were placed on the Savannah River. Yes, we need that power and all that backed up water but the Corps of Engineers was supposed to document and map each old cemetery before the water backed up. Unfortunately/fortunately depending on the way you look at it the water backed up very quickly. The only records that I have been able to find, but not get to yet, are supposed to be housed in the libray at Hartwell, GA. Have you been to all of the Rootsweb and Genweb web sites on these counties? There are land records for Al on the Internet but I can't remember where they are right now. They may be on Ancestry. Good hunting. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
